- There are tests, but they are only in the GitHub tarball. You could switch to that, but you would have to figure out the commit corresponding to the the PyPI release and do something like

Since hunting for the right commit to match a PyPI release is tedious and error-prone, I would say it’s OK to not do this, and to just run “smoke tests” as you are doing.
I would suggest at least changing
%py3_check_import httpagentparser
to
%pyproject_check_import
which automagically imports all of the modules in the package:
