Soft dependencies guidelines

how to remove buggy packages from repo

Hi, i am the owner of the package guayadeque, but the recent package for Fedora 21 guayadeque-0.3.7-4.svn1893.fc21 segfaults. All versions above guayadeque-0.3.6-19.svn1890.fc21 are buggy. The problem is already disccussed: (but not fixed) at http://guayadeque.org/index.php?p=/discussion/1822/guayadeque-stops-after-e… there exists already a bugreport: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1151645 is it possible to delete all versions that are newer than 12.4 from the repo, or is there another possibility to prevent that these buggy versions are used. Do we need to relicense font packages to add metainfo files?

Hi, I am working on fixing font packages for adding metainfo files as asked in http://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2014/10/15/gnome-software-and-fonts/ I want to know if its okay to relicense all font package tags to add say "and CC-BY" in license tag. This value can be any of 5 permissible licenses as given in http://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/chap-Metadata.html#sect-…. spec-cleaner from openSUSE

Hi, I've just found this tool form openSUSE called spec-cleaner. It seems usable in Fedora as well, it would require only to change some data in text files. https://github.com/openSUSE/spec-cleaner If we provide our own data, it might be a very useful tool for Fedora packages. Requires: kmod(some_module)

hi everybody newbie question on spec file subject, file that contains: Requires: kmod(some_module) it rpmbuilds fine but later when attempt to install the package yum fails with: ... --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: some_package Requires: kmod(some_module.ko) ... And module in question naturally is installed. I'm missing something silly, what is it? many thanks P.

Hi, reading http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:NamingGuidelines#Pre-Release_packag… I wonder if we can have or kind of naming for Example (kismet pre-release svn checkout) instead kismet-0-0.3.20040204svn to kismet-0-0.3millions.20140204svn we could have kismet-0.20040204svn-1 to kismet-0.20140204svn-1 i.e it would be: kismet-0.%{date}svn-release ? Wrong package name

Code Fragments - Bundling or Not?

Hi, I am working on updating the binwalk[1][2] package. It is mostly a python-based program, but in its most recent version, the authors have added a little bit of C code. In looking at the C code, I noticed that the authors have taken 2 small files[3][4] from other projects (ncompress and miniz), modified them, and included them in binwalk. Would this be considered bundling or not? In searching the archives and FPC tickets, I've seen some discussion about code fragments not being considered bundling, but I don't see anything in the guidelines.
