Funny.
Even if you choose to boycott the package renaming process, which is
really simple, you could have made your src.rpm build a "vuze" noarch
package instead of keeping the "azureus" %name. Of course, you would
need to get the Obsoletes/Provides pair right as if doing a real
renaming of the package.
As the appstream-data is generated server-side (on the Fedora
infrastructure that is), it's a bit hard to just try and see what
happens...
Richard Hughes posts about this appdata/appstream stuff regularly to
devel@ list. Just recently, in Dec 2015, he has repeated one way to
test your local changes too appdata files:
