[Bug 212792] New: FC5=>FC6 upgrade replaced local.cf with default stub file
by Red Hat Bugzilla

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212792
Summary: FC5=>FC6 upgrade replaced local.cf with default stub
file
Product: Fedora Core
Version: fc6
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: normal
Component: spamassassin
AssignedTo: wtogami(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: jbass(a)dmsd.com
CC: fedora-perl-devel-
list@redhat.com,felicity@kluge.net,jm(a)jmason.org,parkerm
@pobox.com,reg+redhat@sidney.com,wtogami(a)redhat.com
Description of problem: The upgrade process saved the local.cf file, and repaced
with a default stub, removing critical site specific settings to protect from
excessive spam. Unless there are critical version skew problems with file
formats and options, production configuration files should be left in place
during an upgrade/update process ... and the new file installed as .rpmnew.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
How reproducible:
appears always, did for both of our servers.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.CDROM upgrade from FC5=>FC6
2.
3.
Actual results:
spamassassin is cripled by having site specific settings removed.
Expected results:
upgrade should leave existing configuration files untouched, unless there are
compelling changes in file format or options requiring manual intervention after
an upgrade/update.

I'm not sure what this effects, but having selinux prevent spamd from doing
things seems like it could break something.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
spamassassin-3.1.1-1.fc5
selinux-policy-2.2.25-3.fc5
selinux-policy-targeted-2.2.25-3.fc5
How reproducible: Always (when spamd starts/restarts).
Steps to Reproduce:
1. tail -f /var/log/audit.log
2. /sbin/service spamassassin restart
Actual results: selinux denials
Expected results: no selinux denials
Additional information:
As a note, the directory /var/lib/spamassassin/ does not exist. And the files
in question live in /usr/share/spamassassin/ ... which is why I'm filing this as
a bug on spamassassin rather than selinux-policy-targeted.

failure if spamd is not running when sendmail attempts to deliver them e-mail.
Starting spamd before sendmail would reduce the probability of such a problem.

both are S80, which causes sendmail to start first since it sorts alphabetically
before spamd.
