OS/Version: Linux

Severity: low

Tried to run "cpan2rpm Tk". The first file in Tk-804.027.tar.gz is Tk-
804.027/COPYING, i.e., it isn't the root directory of the tarball, which is
what cpan2rpm is expecting. cpan2rpm fails with:
get_meta(): Not a directory at /usr/bin/cpan2rpm line 393.
I added a bit more info to that error message and it reports:
get_meta(): chdir(/tmp/ZhnL73u9em/Tk-804.027/COPYING): Not a directory
at /usr/bin/cpan2rpm line 393.

[Bug 449194] New: perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 installed needs to be built for Perl 5.10
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug report.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=449194
Summary: perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 installed needs to be built for
Perl 5.10
Product: Fedora
Version: 9
Platform: x86_64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: low
Component: perl-Unicode-MapUTF8
AssignedTo: gauret(a)free.fr
ReportedBy: stpierre(a)nebrwesleyan.edu
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: fedora-perl-devel-list(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 is a Fedora 8 package, and so installs its components
under a Perl 5.8.8 search path:
# rpm -q --filesbypkg perl-Unicode-MapUTF8
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Unicode
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Unicode/MapUTF8.pm
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Unicode/MapUTF8.pod
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 /usr/share/doc/perl-Unicode-MapUTF8-1.11
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 /usr/share/doc/perl-Unicode-MapUTF8-1.11/README
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 /usr/share/man/man3/Unicode::MapUTF8.3pm.gz
That doesn't jive with the Perl 5.10 search path in Fedora 9:
# perl -MUnicode::MapUTF8 -e 1
Can't locate Unicode/MapUTF8.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib64/perl5/5.10.0/
x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.0 /usr/local/lib64/perl5/
site_perl/5.10.0/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/local/lib/perl5/
site_perl/5.10.0 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /
usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .).
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted.
Most notably, the smbldap-tools depend on this library.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
# rpm -q perl-Unicode-MapUTF8
perl-Unicode-MapUTF8-1.11-6.fc8.noarch
How reproducible:
Every time.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the perl-Unicode-MapUTF8 package
2. ???
3. Profit! Or, alternatively, have your Perl programs fail to compile.
Actual results:
# perl -MUnicode::MapUTF8 -e 1
Can't locate Unicode/MapUTF8.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib64/perl5/5.10.0/
x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.0 /usr/local/lib64/perl5/
site_perl/5.10.0/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/local/lib/perl5/
site_perl/5.10.0 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /
usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .).
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted.
Expected results:
There should be no output.

CPAN -> fedora mapping update!
by Chris Weyl
Hey all --
I put some additional work into the CPAN->Fedora mapping tools over
Thanksgiving break...
* version info is now pulled from koji
* version in testing, if available, is published
* versions pre F-7 are not pulled (working to fix this)
* data is now stored in a backend db
* upstream-querying is now modular, so querying other upstreams (e.g.
for non-perl) should just be a matter of writing the correct backend
extension and providing a way to determine it should be used against a
package.
The page is still up out at http://fedora.biggerontheinside.net/perl/.
Note I consider the page a stop-gap; next time I get some cycles I'll
probably give Catalyst a whirl and see if I can't make something nice
and dynamic to present it :) Note also there are CSS issues; I've
asked the infrastructure list to set me right. I'm also looking to
leverage a greater integration with koji and the packagedb as
opportunities present themselves.
The code is out under the camelus hosted project[1] It's still early,
mildly slap-dash and requires a bunch of modules not yet available in
Fedora (a number of MooseX ones and DBIx::Class spring to mind).
Patches / comments / collaboration quite welcome :)
