Summary: missing build requirement
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: low
Component: perl-Text-Levenshtein
AssignedTo: steve(a)silug.org
ReportedBy: karsten(a)redhat.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: fedora-perl-devel-list(a)redhat.com
rebuild of this package fails with 'Can't locate Test/More.pm in @INC (@INC contains: (long path list deleted) .) at test.pl line 2..' Looks like the perl-Test-Simple package isn't in the chain of build requirements anymore and needs to be added to this package or maybe to perl-test-harness

CPAN -> fedora mapping update!
by Chris Weyl
Hey all --
I put some additional work into the CPAN->Fedora mapping tools over
Thanksgiving break...
* version info is now pulled from koji
* version in testing, if available, is published
* versions pre F-7 are not pulled (working to fix this)
* data is now stored in a backend db
* upstream-querying is now modular, so querying other upstreams (e.g.
for non-perl) should just be a matter of writing the correct backend
extension and providing a way to determine it should be used against a
package.
The page is still up out at http://fedora.biggerontheinside.net/perl/.
Note I consider the page a stop-gap; next time I get some cycles I'll
probably give Catalyst a whirl and see if I can't make something nice
and dynamic to present it :) Note also there are CSS issues; I've
asked the infrastructure list to set me right. I'm also looking to
leverage a greater integration with koji and the packagedb as
opportunities present themselves.
The code is out under the camelus hosted project[1] It's still early,
mildly slap-dash and requires a bunch of modules not yet available in
Fedora (a number of MooseX ones and DBIx::Class spring to mind).
Patches / comments / collaboration quite welcome :)

perl-devel is installed by some package - "filter requires" needed ?
by Nicolas Chauvet
Hi!
I was surprised to have perl-devel installed as a dependency when I was
testing a new perl package recently introducted.
The test was made on F8 x86_64, but others packages might be affected.
Unless I'm wrong, and the perl-devel dependency are really needed.
Theses packages shouldn't have it as a dependency:
Lastest build of - Still requires:
mod_perl (unsure?) - perl(ExtUtils::MakeMaker)
perl-Tk - perl(ExtUtils::MakeMaker)
perl-Gtk2 - perl(Test::More)
perl-Glib - perl(ExtUtils::MakeMaker)
perl-Curses - perl(ExtUtils::testlib)
I think it would be fine to have them fixed for devel and then in branch
, so a new version could eventually provides a fixed package.
Now I just wonder if we can assume that:
Unless the package itself is a perl(Test:: or perl(ExtUtils:: , it
shouldn't Requires either perl(Test:: or perl(ExtUtils::
Maybe We could have a warning if such dependencies are detected ?
Either appearing in build.log or as a rpmlint test ?
So we could check why this dependency are extracted at source.

An IMAP client Perl script that I have that uses Mail::Box::Manager stopped
working when I upgrade to Mail::IMAPClient 3.05. It appears that this is
because there's a bug in 3.05 -- it doesn't convert bare newlines to CRLF in
messages uploaded from strings (it looks like it does the right thing in
messages uploaded from files). Patch is attached. Serious enough bug that
might be worthwhile to take patch before upstream maintainer gets to it.
