In short deprecation notices are no more converted to exception by default.
1/ if some of your packages test such exceptions
it will be FTBFS and phpunit.xml will need to be fixed.
2/ for our CI, deprecation raised by new version (ex PHP 8.1)
won't be dectected, so:
- less FTBFS
- less CI benefit
Only phpunit8 and phpunit9 have official (upstream) support for PHP 8
But lot of libraries still use the old v5 or v7.
I just run new builds in Fedora
These includes a minimal fix to be able to use them on PHP 8.1
but don't expect any real support.
Any effort should be on upgrading test suite to use newer versions.
