Where does it get to? What messages occur?
If I set my display (AppleVision 1710) to 1024x768x15, the systems gets
stuck at after the following output [just noticed that if I wait long
enough, the system reboots]:
Welcome to Linux, kernel 2.6.8-1.541

Further testing show that any display mode which is not 24-bits freezes
here (until the system reboots after a few minutes).
Any display mode which is 24-bits depth continues past this to a black
screen with Tux icon, then after about 5 seconds goes totally black (and

Specifying kernel parameter 'text' doesn't help - as the text system
still needs the framebuffer.

It's not really something we've tried and tested. It may be worth looking at
if YDL uses seperate configs for old/new world if not then it may just be
something we're missing. IIRC the kernel for oldworld/newworld on ydl should
be the same.
YellowDog 3.0 with kernel 2.4.20 runs fine on this machine.
I'm willing to spend some time to help test this - if you have any
concrete items to check, please let me know.
