[Bug 204070] New: Incorrect instructions to rebuild a fedora kernel
by Red Hat Bugzilla

Summary: Incorrect instructions to rebuild a fedora kernel
Product: Fedora Core
Version: fc5
Platform: i686
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: normal
Component: fedora-release-notes
AssignedTo: jkeating(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: wet(a)timeware.at

Description of problem:
Release notes from
http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/release-notes/fc5/release-notes-ISO/#id3092710
Section 8.6 Preparing for Kernel Development
tell me:
Prepare the kernel sources using the commands:
cd ~/rpmbuild/SPECS
rpmbuild -bp --target $(uname -m) kernel-2.6.spec
The kernel source tree is located in the
${HOME}/rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-<version>/ directory.
This is not correct for FC5; when following the procedure the directory
.../BUILD/kernel-<version>/ contains:
# ls -p rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-2.6.17/
Config.mk linux-2.6.17.i686/ vanilla/ xen/ xen-20060708/
So I assume the kernel "sources" of a version I want to build myself are in one
these subdirectories, but this is different from the current wording of the
release notes.
The box a few lines above "Do Not Build Packages as Super-user" has the
directory (almost) correct:
~/rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-<version>/linux-<version>

[Bug 442642] New: Hebrew release-notes are left-justified
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug report.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=442642
Summary: Hebrew release-notes are left-justified
Product: Fedora Documentation
Version: devel
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: medium
Priority: low
Component: release-notes
AssignedTo: relnotes(a)fedoraproject.org
ReportedBy: oron(a)actcom.co.il
QAContact: kwade(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
Some languages like Hebrew and Arabic are written Right-to-Left.
The HTML generated for the release-notes (and probably any other
docs generated from the same generation system) does not contain any
related instructions and therefore everything is wrongly justified
to the left (including numbering, indentation etc.)
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora-9
How reproducible:
Generate html documentation and look at the resulting html.
Notice the numbering/bullets location and the paragraph justification.
Additional info:
1. A quick and dirty fix is to put a single line:
direction: rtl;
in the fedora.css generated file.
However, this should be done conditionally on the language.
2. A similar solution was done to the fp.o website (by ricky) and
works really good.

[Bug 187080] New: RELNOTES - Summarize the release note suggestion/content
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug report.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=187080
Summary: RELNOTES - Summarize the release note suggestion/content
Product: Fedora Documentation
Version: devel
Platform: ppc64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: high
Priority: normal
Component: release-notes
AssignedTo: relnotes(a)fedoraproject.org
ReportedBy: nag(a)uk.ibm.com
QAContact: kwade(a)redhat.com
CC: kwade(a)redhat.com
The release notes stats that IBM pSeries machines, which has the POWER5
processors, are supported - great.
pSeries machines can be used in three ways:
1) Stand alone as a SMP machine.
2) Using Logical Partitions with physical resources like real SCSI disks and
Ethernet.
3) Using Logical Partitions with virtual resources like using ibmvscsi and
ibmveth drivers.
It is not clear in the release notes which modes are supported.
I have just tried virtual resources - failed with unable to read package
metadata, failure with a reference to repodata/comps.xml from anaconda Errno 256
I have just tried with physical resources - hangs loading a DAC960 driver, which
is a RAID SCSI card.
If you clarify which modes and hardware Fedora5 has been tested on, we might
avoid many frustrations in Fedora users.
