Getting started with Remixes?

Hello everyone, I'm Andreas and currently working with a group of volunteers on making Fedora run on handheld devices, mainly the Pine64 PinePhone. Currently we have a bootable image (and some people already daily-drive it), but it is made entirely by hand (and some shell-scripts). Today I searched the wiki on guidelines to "implement" Anaconda and found out that it's probably easiest for the moment if we label our effort a Remix of Fedora. Currently I'm looking for guidance on how to create Remixes. I have read through the Anaconda docs and searched the wiki already. So far I can tell that Anaconda works based on images that it installs to a host. Now I wonder how to create the images, because the Wiki mentions a plethora of tools for the job: livecd-tools, pungi, livemedia-creator and lorax. I also found a lot of mentions of kickstart everywhere... Could someone kindly recommend which of these tools to further look into? Or is there something like an example step-by-step guide that I can follow to get a grasp of how to create the images or even a whole Remix (possibly including how to fulfill legal requirements around fedora-logos etc.)? I've never done anything like this before, and I'm pretty new to contributing to Fedora in general. However I'd really like it if we could produce a handheld-Remix with an installer and such. Hello, I want to create a custom live cd with other software included. I understand that this may be referred to as Fedora Remix. I looked at: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing/Branding which states: fedora-release contains - GPG keys - yum repositories - release notes - about fedora I understand you have to remove the about fedora and release notes and provide a package of your own. My question is if this means that you can not include the Fedora GPG keys and repositories at all even in your own fedora-remix-release or custom-release package (I mean the URL in the repositories linking to the mirrorlist and the GPG keys)? Network issue at image creation

Hello everybody, I'm working on this remix called RocketGatitos, I'm building it inside a mock chroot, using livemediatools. Removing Anaconda PRE-RELEASE message

Hi all, 1. while creating a remix of f23x64, found that anaconda have a red colored PRE-RELEAST/TESTING warning at the top-right corner. How to remove it for my remix? 2. While selecting the partitioning option, unable to find the continue button while finished partitioning. --regards prosun

Kernel Modules

Hi, I work with Timesys Fedora 18 Remix. I want to kernel module ( i2c-gpio.o and i2c-gpio-device.o ) turn in loadable modules ( i2c-gpio.ko and i2c-gpio-device.ko ). What I need to do ? Should generic-release issues block releases?

This is being post to remixes, test and devel since people on test and devel may not ordinarily be involved with remixes, but might want to comment. Replies have been pointed back to the remixes list (hopefully won't be munged) and you probably should join remixes temporarily if you want to follow this thread. In yesterday's QA meeting bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1224561 was nominated as an f23 final blocker. The group wasn't sure of the impact this would have on remixes if it wasn't fixed before the release, so it was resolved to reject blocker status for now (and the bug was fixed today, so this is moot) and start a discussion with remix representatives. In this particular bug, it wouldn't have been possible to install anaconda and generic-release together on the same image. That might not actually effect many remixes. The other big question is, would fixing generic-release after the f23 release instead of blocking the release work for remixes. Do remixes generally use just the release versions of packages or do they pick up updates as well? The release criteria that was proposed that the bug violated the spirit of, but not the letter of is: Release identification A fedora-release package containing the correct names, information and repository configuration for a final Fedora release must be present on release-blocking images and the appropriately versioned generic-release package must be available in the release repository. It was thought that for bug 1224561 to be considered a release blocker, the above criteria would need to have been expanded to include some functional criteria for generic-release beyond it just be present, So what we are looking for is feedback from people doing remixes about what they really need and when they need it?

List of Fedora remixes wiki page

I have created a list of Fedora remixes wiki page ( http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/List_of_Fedora_remixes) and I updated the Remix wiki page (fp.o/w/Remix) with a link to this list. The remixes are separated into three primary sections, "Current", "Dormant" and "Discontinued". Within those sections, the remixes are organized by the Fedora release (ex. Fedora 20) on which their most recent releases are based, and then by alphabetical order within those release groups. I quoted the descriptions directly from the remix projects' online documentation (project website, GitHub or SourceForge), with an emphasis on brevity. I quoted as is, with no grammatical corrections. Where the descriptions weren't in English, I did my best to provide a translation after the quotes. Not including RHEL and its derivatives, there were ≈ 60 Fedora-attributed distributions I didn't include on the list for various reasons (e.g. if the distribution projects changed their bases from Fedora to something else, if the distributions' efforts were rolled into the Fedora Project's secondary architectures efforts, etc.). I still have a few more distributions to process. If you don't feel I've accurately documented your remix, or you wish otherwise make an edit, please feel free to update the appropriate entry. Fedora 19 spin not logging into gnome

Hi, created vanilla Fedora 19 Live DVD iso from official kickstart files using livecd-creator. ISO file builds without issues but when I start it it gets to login window but doesn't do autologin, clicking on "Live User" just restarts login manager... Did anybody manage to get Fedora 19 spin or remix that works ? Can you share your kickstart? Is this a know bug?

Announcing - A new way to make live media with livemedia-creator

livemedia-creator is a new addition to the lorax project. Its goal is to create live images using anaconda so that we have one place to maintain the logic defining what an installed system should look like. lorax-17.1 contains the first release which should be working well enough for people to experiment with. See the README.livemedia-creator for details and examples. The current version can be used to create bootable disk images or to convert those images into a bootable .iso Development disussion will be on the anaconda-devel-list, and bugs can be filed against lorax.
