Although Rails 3 was released, there are still rails projects working with rails 2.3 series. Rails 3 is not backwards compatible and some key features are not yet working in Rails 3. One notable project still on rails 2.3 is the issue tracker redmine http://www.redmine.org
Since rails 2 and rails 3 are perfectly parallel installable, I would like to maintain rails 2.3 series in Fedora until it really becomes obsolete.
Therefore I have packaged Ruby 2.3.12 for F15/F16, basing them on the Rails 2.3.8 packages already in F14.
This is my first package for Fedora and I welcome any feedback.
Thank you for your time.

Hey Emanuel, appreciate the effort. Will look at it if I get the chance, but time is short nowadays so not sure when that is going to be.
Most likely you will have luck if you email the ruby sig directly.

Since you are a new packager though, you will have to go through the sponsorship process. Not hard, but it could take longer.
Take care, -Mo
Could somebody please review my rails 2.3 packages? I can do a review swap.
rubygem-activeresource2.3 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=728255 rubygem-activerecord2.3 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=728249 rubygem-actionpack2.3 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=728248 rubygem-actionmailer2.3 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=728242 rubygem-rails2.3 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=726690
Rails 3 is the future, but there is still useful ruby software that is only compatible with rails 2.3. One notable such project is redmine http://redmine.org.
Many thanks to Guillermo Gómez who reviewed my rubygem-activesupport2.3 package and helped me find a sponsor.

This is awesome. I'll try to hit these up tomorrow if I can get a chance. Any chance you'd be willing to put these in EPEL 6 too?

I would be willing to put them in EPEL 6, but I'm not sure if I would still be willing to support rails 2.3 two years from now, let alone six. Is putting a package into EPEL 6 a commitment to support it for the entire lifecycle of EPEL 6? If so, would you be willing to co-maintain the packages and take over when I lose interest in rails 2.3? (this will be when all the projects I care about have moved on to rails 3)
Also, does putting rails 2.3 in EPEL 6 automatically imply that rails 3 will not go into EPEL 6?
Thanks
