Hi all, I'm Felipe Saez, born in Chile, I have 24 years old and currently pursuing a dual degree (IT Business and Computer Science) at the University Adolfo Ibañez[1].

I have been a GNU / Linux user since 2003. The first distribution I used was Red Hat  9.0 and from there I felt in love with the OS that much that I am a promoter of GNU / Linux since that time. During my High School years, I managed servers and promoted the use not only in the classroom but also at home.

Between 2011 and 2015 I worked as a sysadmin at my previous university, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María[2]. As part of my job there I was always involved in servers´management and services running on top of GNU / Linux (some Windows too, but less). I worked with and learned software like RHEVM, Apache, MySQL, Samba, BIND, OpenStack, among others. Also I mastered the use of GNU / Linux for networking tasks, like Proxy, DHCP, firewall, iSCSI, etc.

Nowadays I am currently working at my university as a Research Assistant, in topics related to IoT. In particular I am working in in-house and enterprise software stacks for IoT, such as FiWare. Continuing the steps I followed at high school, I keep promoting the use of open-source software at the university (for projects, testing, business tools, among others).

Some of the goals I would like to accomplish (if I am selected to work at your organisation) is to increase the use of Fedora Server on the OpenStack platform - on which I have experience. This is key for me since this is the platform we use at the university to create VMs for students. Also, as my research is related to IoT and I am using the Fiware platform for this, I would like to create FiWare components’ images in Fedora Server, which will lead in both a better integration and rapid deployment. This also will bring Fedora server closer to the hot topic of IoT.

Academically speaking I would like to approach people Fedora Server within the University, to be used in the classroom, where they can make images and deploy all type of services running on them.

In addition as a personal goal, I want to collaborate with Fedora Server using my experiences as sysadmin, bringing new ideas to the table and getting closer the academic world to Fedora using my university as a starting point.

I would like to mention that my native language is Spanish, so I can also collaborate on translating Fedora Server-related stuff in such language, as well as supporting users’ experience from Latin America.

I can meet two hours a week (and more if required and if my availability allows it). My timezone is GMT -3:00
