Some days ago we had a short discussion on Matrix about revising our SBC documentation. The goal is, to clearly separate the „real“ Server for professional use from the SBC „special case“. Therefore I would like to move the SBC installation from the general „Installation“ section to the „Special case: ARM SBCs“ section.
When it comes to SBCs, I would like to focus on the newer, more powerful models that are better suited for server purposes in terms of their physical design. The prototype for this is the Radxa Rock Pi 5 model b.
In addition to the u-boot models, I would like to highlight models that are able to also run with a EDK2 firmware module. So that they can be set up and managed with the normal Anaconda installation. In addition, I would like to present selection criteria and compare some suitable models.
Later, our planned homelab spin-off would primarily also fall into this section.
Another new feature would be a reference list of models that either we ourselves or other cooperating users have in operation and where we can assume a certain degree of operability with good reason.
I have created a rough first draft in our staging area. https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fedora-server/server-on-arm-sbc/
I would like to accomplish the final transition in conjunction with the release of F43.
