My vision is to allow an admin to setup a piece of hardware with a live
OS that a user touching the machine, could not break into. I also want
NO admin password, since I want this thing to be cookie cutter. If pxe
booting the OS worked, that would even be better.
The machine would be setup with bios lock, and no USB/CDROM exposed or
bootable. Then just boot the live OS. Live OS is locked down by
SELinux confined xguest user no access to root, optionally IPTABLES lock
down to a particular IP Address or IP Network. In stead of worrying
about upgrading the Machine, you periodically replace the live OS Image.

spins.fedoraproject.org statistics
by Igor Pires Soares
Hello!
It seems to me that the spins.fedoraproject.org statistics are taking
into account only the downloads via torrent. Since now we have direct
spins download it would be nice to aggregate these statistics as well.
Is there a way of put them all together?
The BrOffice.org spin has also been downloaded via other websites which
link to download.fedoraproject.org, and having the correct statistics
would be good to know how is it going.

My idea is for apps like cash registers/kiosk/demo booths. If I imbed a
bootable OS and do not allow external USB/CD. Theoretically people who
can touch the box, can not boot their own OS or break into the OS to
turn off security features like SELinux/iptables etc.

livecd-tools 032 coming
by Bruno Wolff III
livecd-tools 032 is being built for rawhide and will probably be used for
the nightly builds soon. Please speak up if you see any brokenness that might
be due to this update.

Download instructions on the Spins page
by Peter Robinson
Hi All,
I'm helping out at POSSE Worcester this week and one of the things
that people asked when looking through the spins download pages was
"How do I make this into a live image on a USB stick?" so I looked
around the site and noticed that the only spot that seems to mention
what do do with a .iso once its downloaded is a couple of paragraphs
in the about page.
As a spin might be the first place that people try Fedora as its
unobtrusive it might be worthwhile compressing the 2 paragraphs on the
about page (one for optical and one for USB media) into a single
paragraph with some links on the actual download page so they don't
have to hunt for it and to make it as easy as possible for people to
be able to get started.

Heads up 'man' probably changing to 'man-db'
by Bruno Wolff III
I noticed that man-db is obsoleting man in rawhide and that we will probably
want to change references to man in ks files to man-db. However man is still
in rawhide as well, so for now I just filed a bug to ask about this.
If I get confirmation that man is going away, I'll make changes to ks
files in the master branch to reflect this.

New squashfs-tools in rawhide
by Bruno Wolff III
I am building the 4.1 prerelease version of squashfs-tools for rawhide.
The default is to use zlib for compression, so this shouldn't break anything.
But if it does, please let me know.
