No, we cannot, this is on rel-eng for the spin and websites for the
spins page. I have opened a ticket at

The nightly builds did create an .iso after removal of gwave from the
comps f16  xml file.

The web page still mentions about the spin and Chitlesh even though
the spin doesn't exist!

Dennis Gilmore (our regular release engineer) is taking some personal
time off work this week.  If your request is urgent, I can get someone
else to push these.  Otherwise, I'm sure Dennis will get to it next

Please be patient. Both Dennis and Jared are working hard.

So many things went wrong with this spin. It was broken for months so I
cannot understand why it suddenly is so urgent.

A positive reply would have been to give constructive feedback, and
provide suggestions for improvement.

Since Jared said on the 21 that he will be able to release the isos, I
asked him for an update. Thanksgiving is coming up as well, so I
expect people to go on vacation soon. Hence, my query.

I think I did that: I participated in testing the spin and files bugs
for the problems I found. The missing icon in urxvt's menu entry was
fixed, but the broken electronics-menu was not, even though I tested the
workaround and confirmed it works. I also filed a but against the
gnome-menus package that causes electronics-menus to break and provided
a patch upstream. What more do you expect?

As the spins maintainer I need to ensure that all spins meet the release
criteria, but I cannot test all the spins. I need more people to help me
and if nobody cares for a spin for several months, I don't think this
spin deserves to be released.

I am still not convinced it meets all release criteria. Do we know if

Jared did not say he can release the ISOs, he said that Dennis is off
for a week and that he can have someone looking after it if it is really
urgent. If you want Jared to do this please contact him directly and not
through the list, but I fail to see how something can be urgent now if
nobody cared to do it for months.

I had actually asked for the things to be tested _before_ the release process.

I still don't know how the .iso was missed during the release even
after it was approved:

I just want to make sure that this doesn't happen to other spins in

The process has manual steps so mistakes can be made. I believe similar
things have happened in the past. One thing spin owners can do is watch
to make sure their spins are having release candidates built. If you
see a release candidate it is unlikely your spin will get missed for
the release. If you don't see one for your spin but do see other specialty
spins, then it's probably a good idea to ask rel-eng about it.

Let me rephrase a famous saying from John F. Kennedy: "Ask not what
others have tested for you but ask yourself what you have been testing
for others."

And if there was nobody testing for others or nobody to fix bugs for
months, then a spin should not be released. I'm sorry if it sound harsh,
but it's really that simple.

It's not that I don't want to discuss this but that I doubt that we can
avoid it. Creating spins is still a manual process and humans fail from
time to time.
