Hi! In a few months we will be putting out a new version of stratisd. This time, we will bump the major version, something we haven't done in a couple of years. Please see the blog post [1] for the announcement of the upcoming change. We expect to be putting out additional information about the forthcoming changes as we approach the release. Inquiry - stratis on MDRAID

Hey there, I have a stratis pool on an mdraid block device, and I recently grew the device. I've been trying to figure out how to allow stratis to see the change in the block device, but I have not had success. Any chance you've seen this before? Tom

Hi! The Fedora stratisd spec file now defines two packages: stratisd and stratisd-dracut (as well as the usual supporting packages). We've posted a note about the packaging implementation and the reasons why we chose to make a subpackage on the Stratis website: https://stratis-storage.github.io/stratisd-rootfs-packaging/. We expect that other downstream packagers will find it easiest to use a similar arrangement. The Fedora 34 build is available at: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-2560416f2e. Using stratis on existing home and root partition.

Hey Stratis team, referring to my red hat community discussion https://access.redhat.com/discussions/5642061 , just in order to use stratis i didn't setup the LVM as I wanted stratis to manage pools and snapshots..so I did LUKS encrypted dev mapper with XFS partition with my home and root.. Just a request to help me in the discussion or provide a good help for this in stratis docs.

Request For Resources on Learning About Incremental Backups

Dear Stratis Mailing List Team, Hello! I am interested in learning about Stratis's Incremental Approach Technology and how it further advances incremental backup approaches in previous filesystems like Btrfs. According to the Reddit AMA, the Stratis Lead Developer said the following: Stratis takes a more incremental approach on how to provide new features like CoW, snapshots, integrity, etc. These capabilities already exist in a "bag of parts" sort of way on Linux via its device-mapper (DM) subsystem. Linux already has existing great (traditional-style) filesystems like XFS. Stratis configures these existing components in a layered fashion. This makes its development easier: we already have a filesystem layer, a CoW layer, an integrity layer, a RAID layer. Instead of creating this functionality, the work becomes managing these layers on behalf of the user, so that they function as a unified whole. The downside is that Stratis misses some opportunities made possible by an integrated approach <https://blogs.oracle.com/bonwick/rampant-layering-violation>. Since I am new to filesystems and incremental backup approaches, what resources (e.g. books; websites; tutorial blogs) would the Stratis Development Team recommend to young developers that intend to learn how to update and improve such filesystem and backup techniques? I am especially interested in learning about the data structures and algorithms Stratis uses. For instance, the Stratis whitepaper says the following: "...The thinpool device implements a copy-on-write (CoW) algorithm, so that blocks in thedata device are only allocated as needed to back the thin volumes created from the thinpool..." Encountered error during cargo build
