Orphaning/retiring old wlroots compatibility packages

With the recent update announcement, we are at 5 wlroots compatibility packages. Most of those are unfortunately still necessary and require maintenance every now and then. I intend to stop maintaining the oldest 3: - wlroots0.15, with the only dependent package, hikari. hikari development has stopped 4 years ago, but there's at least one active fork[1] (no relation to the original developers). Timothée, if you intend to keep the package alive, I'd appreciate if you either take over the wlroots0.15, patch hikari to support newer wlroots or switch upstream. wlroots0.15 currently fails to build in rawhide and will need a backport of https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/wlroots/c/5035af1 - wlroots0.16, with no dependents. I will retire the package before the beta freeze. - wlroots0.17, with the only dependent package, python-pywlroots. pywlroots upstream is active, but is not motivated to catch up with the wlroots development[2] after Qtile has switched to another wayland backend implementation. wlroots 0.20 update

Greetings, In the coming week I'll update wlroots in rawhide and f44 to the latest 0.20.0 release candidate[1]. As usual, the update comes with the API and library name changes. wlroots0.19 compatibility package will be provided in the same update. This is a purely informational message, no breakages are expected and no action is required from the maintainers of dependent packages. Possible?: A "Master" window with a clickable list of all the other window titles?

People, Does what I descibe make sense? When I have a lot of vimb (Vim Browser) windows open, long titles for the tabs (eg in YouTube) quickly get squashed up into too short titles as the number of tabs increases - so I am thinking it would be good to have a "Master" window that lists all the other window names and would allow me to change to a particular window by clicking on the name of the window in the "Master" window. Also, in this setup, it would also be nice to: - Be able to sort the title names to find duplicate windows open - Move window names up or down to change the order of the windows - Be able to duplicate / close windows with right mouse clicking etc Thanks, Phil. -- Philip Rhoades PO Box 896 Cowra NSW 2796 Australia

People, At first I thought this problem was specific to Brave (my work-horse browser) but then I found the problem was the same for Chrome and FF . . BTW, I tried a LOT of different extensions so it is common to all of the browsers and extensions . . Any ideas what is going on? - otherwise the clean install of F43 on three desktops and one laptop have gone pretty well . . but it was other issues that prompted a major re-organisation and house cleaning of all the stuff on all the machines so it is quite possible I have stuffed something up . . wlroots 0.19.0 update

Greetings, This week I'll be updating wlroots to 0.19.0[1] in rawhide and f42. As usual, compatibility package for 0.18.x will be introduced to prevent any potential breakages. In addition, Sway will be updated to 1.11[2] in rawhide only, in accordance with our policy to avoid behavior changes in stable releases. F42 build will be available in the official copr repository with backports, @sway-sig/sway-desktop[3]. As far as I'm aware, no other projects have releases compatible with wlroots 0.19 and require updating. File Manager that is called when uploading to Google Drive

People, I am on F40 and using an install from the Sway Live iso. When I want to upload a file to GD, a simple file manager opens - it isn't Thunar - which I have renamed so it doesn't get used - but what is this other, simple FM? I have tried looking at the Chrome processes that are running with and without the simple FM interface displayed but I can't find any forked program for the FM. If I do the same thing with Firefox, it also loads the same simple FM! - where is it? what is it? - I want to replace it with Ranger . . if it is possible. wlroots 0.18 update announcement

Greetings, I'm planning to update wlroots in rawhide to 0.18.0[1] by the end of the week (or at least before the branching). As usual, the update contains API/ABI breaking changes and soname will be bumped to libwlroots-0.18.so[^1]. wlroots0.17 compatibility package will be introduced in the same update. This is a purely informational message, no breakages are expected and no action is required from the maintainers of dependent packages. I'll be taking care of the only package (river) that would benefit from the update. sway-resping issue with screensharing/ vid calls in Firefox

Hello Fellow Swayers! I'm wondering if anyone else has discovered / seen a bug that's popped up last week or so in Fedora 39 Sway respin. Video calls & screensharing no longer works in Firefox. Ive tested with google meet as well as meet.jit.si and it's the same issue so def not a fault of the service provider. The picture for other participants is just a "black screen" The other participants also just see a black screen if I share my screen. I've confirmed the same issue on two separate laptops that are completely different (so it's not a hardware issue) I also tried creating a new user to make sure it's not somthing with my custom sway settings. Logging in as that user having the fedora sway re-spin using the defaults the same behaviour persists. -- Best Regards ~M
