at least i3 definitely does not support something like this out of the
box. This looks more like a predefined layout which is supported by
other window managers like dwm or awesome.
I thought that might be the case - oh well . . As I get more familiar
with the setup, I will see if can create some sort of "macro" to do what
I want . . I just worked out that in config I can use "bindsym ... exec"
to run shell scripts so I will see how I go . .
