+1 - Pretty much all the other communities I'm involved in are moving
to libera.chat already with the plan to bridge to matrix once that
functionality is available (which there are claims it is actively
being worked on).

OK.  I suggest everyone go to https://libera.chat/guides/registration and follow the instructions, especially if you want to make sure a particular nick is available.  NOTE: It seems to take several hours (or more?) to receive the registration email - I still have not received mine - so I have not created the #systemroles channel yet.
