Call for Test Days for Fedora 18

Hey, folks. It's that time again - time to start thinking about Test
Days for Fedora 18.
For anyone who isn't aware, a Test Day is an event usually focused
around IRC for interaction and a Wiki page for instructions and results,
with the aim being to get a bunch of interested users and developers
together to test a specific feature or area of the distribution. You can
run a Test Day on just about anything for which it would be useful to do
some fairly focused testing in 'real time' with a group of testers; it
doesn't have to be code, for instance we often run Test Days for
l10n/i18n topics. For more information on Test Days, see

Anyone who wants to can host their own Test Day, or you can request that
the QA group helps you out with organization, or any combination of the
two. To propose a Test Day, just file a ticket in QA trac - full details
are at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days/Create . For

You can see the schedule at

slots open right now, with the earliest on 2012-08-09 and the latest
2012-11-01. Consider the development schedule, though, in deciding when
you want to run your Test Day - for some topics you may want to avoid
the time before the Alpha release or the time after the feature freeze
or the Final freeze.
We normally aim to schedule Test Days on Thursdays; however, if you want
to run a series of related Test Days, it's often a good idea to do
something like Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday of the same week (this is
how we usually run the X Test Week, for instance). If all the Thursday
slots fill up but more people want to run Test Days, we will open up
Tuesday slots as overflows. And finally, if you really want to run a
Test Day in a specific timeframe due to the development schedule, but
the Thursday slot for that week is full, we can add a slot on another
day. We're flexible! Just put in your ticket the date or timeframe you'd
like, and we'll figure it out from there.

Announcing 389 Directory Server version 1.2.11.12 Testing

The 389 Project team is pleased to announce the release of
389-ds-base-1.2.11.12 for Testing. This release includes support for
POSIX attributes in Windows Sync, several bug fixes, and cleanup of
various issues found by valgrind and Coverity. The 389 team would like
to thank Carsten Grzemba for contributing his POSIX Windows Sync plugin
to the project.
The new packages and versions are:
389-ds-base 1.2.11.12
NOTE: 1.2.11 will not be available for Fedora 16 or earlier, nor for EL6
or earlier - 1.2.11 will only be available for Fedora 17 and later. We
are trying to stabilize current, stable releases - upgrades to 1.2.11
will disrupt stability.
Installation
yum install 389-ds --enablerepo=updates-testing
# or for EPEL
yum install 389-ds --enablerepo=epel-testing
setup-ds-admin.pl
Upgrade
yum upgrade 389-ds-base --enablerepo=updates-testing
# or for EPEL
yum upgrade 389-ds-base --enablerepo=epel-testing
setup-ds-admin.pl -u
How to Give Feedback
The best way to provide feedback is via the Fedora Update system.
Go to https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates
In the Search box in the upper right hand corner, type in the name
of the package
In the list, find the version and release you are using (if you're
not sure, use rpm -qi <package name> on your system) and click on the
release
On the page for the update, scroll down to "Add a comment" and
provide your input

Greetings testers!
It's that time of the week again. There's one particularly important
issue on this week's agenda which many of you may have an interest in
coming along for: it seemed a good idea to talk about the issue with
live installation functionality, and possibly other elements of anaconda
that may not be in place in time for the Fedora 18 Alpha release (and
possibly later release points). If there seems to be a clear consensus
and desire for it at the meeting we might form an official
recommendation to FESCo on behalf of the QA group, so if you want to
ensure your view is represented, please do come along. I've put this
topic first on the agenda so we don't wind up losing lots of people
during the blocker review, which usually eats up a chunk of time.

Fedora Jam test day delayed

Hey, folks - it's probably obvious from the lack of any publicity or a
wiki page, but the Fedora Jam test day that's on the schedule for today
is delayed, since F18 isn't really in shape for building a test spin. We

This Thursday, August 23, we will meet to make sure we are coordinated
and ready for the public release of Fedora 18 Alpha on Tuesday, August
28, 2012. Please note that this meeting will occur on August 23 *even
if the release is delayed at the Go/No-Go meeting on August 22.* - in
half hour (I tell you secret - it's going to be No-Go...).
This meeting works best when we have representatives from all of the
teams, so we'll be looking for the following people to attend or send a
representative in their place. Unfortunately I won't be available
during the whole day (see PS...), so let's hope we'll meet.
We will meet in #fedora-meeting-1 because of conflict in meeting
schedules.

Fedora 18 Alpha to slip by one week

Today at Go/No-Go meeting it was decided to slip Fedora 18
Alpha release by one week due to numerous unresolved bugs
[1] and incomplete test matrices for Alpha [2][3][4]. See
the meeting minutes [5] for more details.
As a result, ALL MAJOR MILESTONES, and their dependent tasks,
will be pushed out by one week.
The Fedora 18 Alpha readiness meeting is on Thursday,
Aug 23 at 19:00 UTC (3 PM EDT/12 PM Pacific). Please join
the meeting to sync Alpha preparations.
The next Go/No-Go meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday,
Aug 30, same time, same place (21:00 UTC, 5 PM EDT,
#fedora-meeting), just a different day!
Unfortunatelly due to family reasons (life does not respect
schedules) I'm not sure I'll be able to fix F18 schedule
until Friday... So please make sure to count with slip
before I'll update it. Reminder: schedule was moved to
my personal space [6]!
