BoxGrinder Build 0.9.1 Test Recap
by Marc Savy
The 28th April 2011 marked BoxGrinder Build's [1] inaugural Fedora Test
Day session, attracting a modest number of users who helped run though a
variety of test-cases for release 0.9.1.
In the course of testing only two major unanticipated bugs were
encountered, along with several known issues for Fedora 15 appliances,
but no blockers preventing inclusion in the distribution. These
problems have since been remediated in the upcoming 0.9.2 release [2],
along with some new features and improvements [3].
## JIRA tickets raised
[BGBUILD-210] Parameters are not being expanded, and cause early string
truncation. (Created: 28/Apr/11, Updated: 10/May/11, Resolved:
10/May/11) https://issues.jboss.org/browse/BGBUILD-210
This issue was a side-effect of our move to improved YAML parsing and
validation.
[BGBUILD-207] Guestfs dies on Fedora 15 with 'KVM not supported for this
target' message (Created: 28/Apr/11, Updated: 12/May/11, Resolved:
12/May/11) https://issues.jboss.org/browse/BGBUILD-207
An upstream issue with QEMU, which has subsequently been worked around.
## Thanks
We would like to extend our gratitude to the following users who
generously gave their time to assist in betterment of BoxGrinder Build
(in no particular order);
* gospo
* verdurin
* Tim Flink (tflink)
* ktofte
* Bertrand Juglas (bertux)
A special mention for bertux, who is going to deliver a talk on
BoxGrinder Build at the Fedora 15 release party in Paris! [4]. In
addition, many thanks go to Tim Flink (tflink) for helping us organise
our first Test Day event, and take an important step in quality
engineering for BoxGrinder Build.
Aside from the bugs exposed, the opportunity to meet new users, garner
ideas and solicit opinions was extremely worthwhile.
If you have any questions, or are just interested in BoxGrinder, please
join us in #boxgrinder on Freenode.
Thanks,
Marc
