# F28 Blocker Review meeting
# Date: 2018-04-02
# Time: 16:00 UTC
# Location: #fedora-blocker-review on irc.freenode.net
Hi folks! We have 3 proposed blockers and 4 proposed freeze exception
issues for Final to review, so let's have a review meeting on Monday.
If you have time this weekend, you can take a look at the proposed or
accepted blockers before the meeting - the full lists can be found
here: https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/ .
We'll be evaluating these bugs to see if they violate any of the
Release Criteria and warrant the blocking of a release if they're not
fixed. Information on the release criteria for F28 can be found on the
wiki [0].
For more information about the Blocker and Freeze exception process,
check out these links:

And for those of you who are curious how a Blocker Review Meeting
works - or how it's supposed to go and you want to run one - check out
the SOP on the wiki:

Hola!
A gentle reminder to all, Monday 2018-03-26 will be Fedora 28 Gnome 3.28 Test Day!
As part of this planned Change for Fedora 28[0], So this is an important Test Day!
As we approach the Beta, we try to make sure that all the gnome features
are performing as they should.
We need to ensure it's working well enough and catch any remaining issues.
It's also pretty easy to join in: all you'll need is Test Day image (which you can grab from the wiki page).
As always, the event will be in #fedora-test-day on Freenode IRC.

Hi folks! I'm proposing we cancel the QA meeting on Monday. Once again,
F28 Beta validation will be the focus this week: go/no-go is on Thursday
(again), and we'll be trying to get things in shape by then (again).
If anyone would like to have a meeting, and is willing to run it in my
place, please just go ahead and send an announcement mail (and, of
course, show up to run the meeting on Monday). Thanks!
There *will* be a blocker review meeting, of course.

Release status of the Fedora 28 Beta is NO-GO.
Due to missing RC for the F28 Beta release and presence of blocker
bugs, the decision is “No Go”. The Beta release slips for one week to
“Target #1” date (April 3rd). We are not going to slip the Final GA
yet.
For more information please check the minutes from the F28 Beta
Go/No-Go meeting [1][2].

Hey All,
A gentle reminder, Today(2018-03-22) is Deprecate TCP wrappers[1] Test Day!
As part of this planned Change[2]for Fedora 28, this is an important Test Day!
TCP wrappers is a simple tool to block incoming connection on the application level.
This was very useful 20 years ago when there were no firewalls in Linux. This is not the case for today and
connection filtering should be done at the network level or completely in application scope if it makes sense
Removing this package from Fedora will remove a package from default and minimal installations
(removing the dependency of daemons such as SSHD).
It also makes the configuration straight-forward for new users (no shared files defining access rules, poorly reporting any errors to users.
Removing the dependency from all packages and retiring the package in the single release will minimize users confusion and avoids opening sensitive services after the update.
Since many crucial functionalities (OpenSSH and others) depend on this, We hope to test and see, whether it's working well enough and catch any remaining issues.
As always, the event will be in #fedora-test-day on Freenode IRC.

Join us on irc.freenode.net in #fedora-meeting-1 for this important
meeting, wherein we shall determine the readiness of the Fedora 28
Beta.
The meeting is going to be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 17:00
UTC. Please check the [1] link for your time zone.
Before each public release Development, QA and Release Engineering
meet to determine if the release criteria are met for a particular
release. This meeting is called the Go/No-Go Meeting. Verifying that
the Release criteria are met is the responsibility of the QA Team.
Release Candidate (RC) availability and good QA coverage are
prerequisites for the Go/No-Go meeting. If you have any bug on the
list, please help us with Beta release. If we won't be ready by
Thursday, we will use this meeting to review blockers and decide what
to do.
In the meantime, please keep also an eye on the Fedora 28 Beta Blocker list [2].
For more details about this meeting please follow the [3] link.

Hi folks! We have four proposed blockers and nine proposed freeze
exceptions for Fedora 28 Beta, so let's have a review meeting tomorrow.
Note that daylight savings time started in North America (mostly)
today, so the meeting is now an hour earlier in UTC. If you changed
your clocks forward today, the meeting will be at the same local time
as before. If you did *not* change your clocks, the meeting will be an
hour earlier than last week for you.

We're kind of in the crunch time for Fedora 28 now, and things aren't

Hey All,
Hi folks! Test Day[1] on Kernel 4.15 was a great success! Here's the Test Day report.
56 testers[2] combined ran a total of 112 tests and reported logs and filed bugs.
So the event looks like a success on all fronts: we found some new bugs to squish, but it also gives us a decent indication
that the new kernel is in a good enough condition for a first stable release.
Testers tested it for different arch(s) and various hardware.
Bugs:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1546440
We would love to hear what more can we do to help testers get started with Kernel Testing and if something more can
be done in the coming test days!
