Re: rawhide changelog?
by Lars G
thanks, but i'm using synaptic so there is no local package stored after update.
i think its the same with the up2date tool.
would be nice to have a global rawhide changelog.
best,

You can always 'rpm -q --changelog' individual rpms:

- Disable Glide3 support on ia64 as it does not really work anyway
- Disable xkb-multilayout-modifier-fix-CVS11137 as the ALT-TAB problem
is back
now, and this is the next likely candidate cause
* Thu Aug 28 2003 Mike A. Harris <mharris redhat com> 4.3.0-23.dbg
- Updated XFree86-4.3.0-redhat-libGL-opt.patch from Jakub

so that libGL TLS support now works on all x86 class CPUs, rather than
just
i686 and higher. New version is:
XFree86-4.3.0-redhat-libGL-opt-v2.patch
- Disabled xkb-us_intl-and-other-fixes-CVS11216 and
xkb-fix-sticky-modifiers
patches since they fix one bug, to create another, and fix that bug to
create several more. The original problem was much less worse and
affected
far less people.
- Enabled with_debuglibs temporarily for debugging purposes
* Tue Aug 26 2003 Mike A. Harris <mharris redhat com> 4.3.0-22.4
- Added --libdir=%{_x11libdir} for Xft/Xrender stuff

There's a plan for one, it's currently about #37 on my todo list. :/

Someone mentioned being able to erase a CDRW using Nautilus, but didn't
mention how.

A bug on Chinese characters when ReName a .desktop or change icon of a .desktop
by 肇 鑫
Today I encounter a problem when I rename the .desktop in Gnome 2.3.7 in
Severn.
When I try to name in English, it will be OK. However, if I change the icon
of the .desktop or rename it by right-click on it and use Chinese
characters(GB2312), some problems comes.
For example:
I have a .desktop which name is 星际译王.desktop(it is the Chinese name of
stardict which is a e-dictionary) and it appears as 星际译王 on the desktop
of Gnome. You may see the Chinese character when you change to gb2312.
0. the original context of 星际译王.desktop is
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Exec=stardict
TryExec=
X-GNOME-DocPath=
Terminal=false
Name[zh_CN]=星际译王
GenericName[zh_CN]=
Comment[zh_CN]=
(I use gedit to open the 星际译王.desktop to see what in it)
1.Then I change the icon of 星际译王.desktop. The problem comes, after I
change the icon of the .desktop. Its name appears on the desktop of Gnome
changes to "No Name".
And the context of the 星际译王.desktop changes to
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=No name
Type=Application
Exec=stardict
TryExec=
X-GNOME-DocPath=
Terminal=false
Name[zh_CN]=星际译王
GenericName[zh_CN]=
Comment[zh_CN]=
3 I notice that there are two differences between the two contexts.
The first is the positional reversal between Encoding=UTF-8 and
Version=1.0.
And the second, which I think is what cause the problem, is that the entry
"Name=No name" is added.
4 I try to solve the problem myself. And I discover two methods (but not
the best method). The first is better, I think, is just to open the
.desktop with text editor and delete the entry "Name=No name" directly and
then save.
The second methed is Change the "Name=No name" to "Name=<the name you
want>" directly. However, if you use the second method and use the Chinese
charater as the name, unfortunately, although the name of .desktop on the
desktop looks good or normal, when you re-open the .desktop with gedit or
vi, you will find the entry "Name=<the name you want>" change to
"Name=<confuse code which could not distinguish as the name you typed
before>". So I guess that is why there is an entry "Name[zh_CN]=" in it .
5. That is all about the bug. And I think the reason is that the entry
"Name=" more superior then the entry "Name[zh_CN]=" cause its position is
more forward.

SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE error
by Tom Vaughan
Hello,
I downloaded the text below and placed it into a file called key.
Then I ran rpm --import key. I then tried to install the new up2date
file for Severn, up2date-3.1.46-2-i386.rpm, and I got
SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE error.
What do I need to do to get up2date working?

A security issue about the Gnome authorized applet
by 肇 鑫
Today I use a common user account login, then I change the login screen
setting in system-settings:/// with root password. I logoff then to see the
new login screen. Then I login again with the same common user account
mentioned just now.When I get in to Gnome again, I notice that the
authorize applet, which icon is two yellow keys, is still there.
So I think maybe something on security issue. I think I should not see the
authorize applet , since I have already logoffed just now. And I think we
must change it.
After all, the applet quit after some period of time. However, I still
think it should not appear when I re-login as soon as I logoff.

gconfd-2 not dieing on logout
by Joshua Legbandt
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem that I am
seeing... I've noticed that when I invoke gnome-session in my .xinitrc
from ssh-agent like this:
/usr/bin/ssh-agent gnome-session
instead of:
exec gnome-session
that gconfd-2 doesn't die on logout. I never experienced this while I
was running rh9, but only since I started running rawhide packages. Any
ideas?

upgrade jpilot
by Florin Andrei
The current jpilot version in Rawhide is 0.99.5
This is known to have some nasty bugs, which potentially could lead to
data loss when sync'ing the PDA. I actually experienced that bug once.
:-(
That version has been quickly replaced with 0.99.6 on the jpilot
website, which seems to work fine.
Please upgrade the package on Rawhide to whatever's the latest version.

Problem sending messages to postfix 2.0.14 from evolution 1.4.3 using SSL (SMTPS)
by Jeremy Portzer
I'm having quite a bit of trouble sending outgoing mail to a postfix
2.0.14 server, from evolution 1.4.3-3 as included in Severn. The SMTP
server requires authentication and is run over SSL. The server works fine
when using the evolution included in Shrike, and it works fine from other
clients like Mozilla Mail and pine. I'm fairly sure therefore that it's
not a server-side problem.
When evolution tries to send mail, it gives this error:
RCPT TO <email address>
Syntax Error, command unrecognized
See an example screenshot here:
http://www.trilug.org/~jeremy/Screenshot-Evolution.png
The postfix logs show the SSL information when the client succesfully
connects, and then they show a disconnect, with no other information. I'm
not familiar enough with postfix to know how to increase the logging
level, if that would help.
Is this a real bug that I should file, or am I missing something entirely?
Thanks for any advice on this!
I really like Severn but the ability to send email would make it a lot
better.
