up2date reports system is always up to date??
by Ernest L. Williams Jr.
Hi,
How to set up2date to recognize that there really is work to do?
up2date keeps reporting that my system is fully up to date.
I know there are updates on the "updates-released" channel for Fedora.
Can someone tell me how to wake up2date up?
Thanks,
Ernesto

tune2fs -m "reserved space?"
by Justin Conover
tune2fs
-m reserved-blocks-percentage
-r reserved-blocks-count
If what I have read is correct, -m by default uses 5% of the disk space for
"reserved root use" On my server at home with a /home of 1TB thats about
50GB of wasted space.
Is this reserved space actually used by ANYTHING? Like LVM, some kind of
fragmentation?
Thanks

Anaconda question
by Jim Bevier
I have tried to update a FC2 system with FC4 and FC3. Each release just
asks me what type of installation I want. I want to upgrrade, but that does
not seem to be an option. What does anaconda look for to determine if the
current system can be upgraded or not? Fedora-release and redhat-release
are in /etc and contains the information for Fedora Core 2. What do I need
to do to get anaconda to let me do an upgrade?

Re: Re: gaim dependendent on kdelibs?
by Steven I Usdansky
Thanks, Tom. I went with arts-1.4.2-0fc4.1, although changing my sound
preference method to esd also worked (changing to arts doesn't work).

gaim dependendent on kdelibs?
by Steven I Usdansky
Just checking. I rebuilt my development install by starting with a
minimal FC4 install, upgrading it to development, then adding the just
packages I want (along with their dependencies). The only problem I've
encountered is with gaim. Although it installed without any objections,
it kept crashing on me when I'd try to send a message via my msn
account. Starting from a terminal gives the following msg:
~$ gaim
sh: lnusertemp: command not found
can't create mcop directory
Poking around a bit, it appears that lnusertemp is provided by kdelibs.
After installing kdelibs, all appears to be well. However, nothing in
rpm -q --requires gaim reveals no such dependency. A bug?
