problems with iproute/NetworkManager ?
by Tom London
Running targeted/enforcing, latest rawhide.
The latest iproute package 'breaks' my network: my interface ends up
with an IP address but no routes.
Installing the previous iproute package (iproute-2.6.13-3) and
reselecting 'Wired' in the NetworkManager applet seems to fix this.
The only obvious messages are:
Sep 14 13:36:45 localhost NetworkManager: nm_ip4_config_get_broadcast:
assertion `config != NULL' failed
Sep 14 13:36:45 localhost NetworkManager: nm_ip4_config_get_netmask:
assertion `config != NULL' failed
Anyone else seeing this?

MathML font problem
by Paul F. Johnson
Hi,
I'm using the current rawhide with Firefox beta2 and am trying to get
the MathML stuff to work with it using the instructions set out at
http://swissnet.ai.mit.edu/projects/intelligent-book/mathml/#fonts-package
I've followed it to the letter (except used ttmkfdir -o fonts.dir
instead of type1inst as directed on the site). However, when I come to
test the fonts using
xset fp+ /usr/lib/X11/fonts/math-fonts/cmtex-pfb
xset fp+ /usr/lib/X11/fonts/math-fonts/mathematica-pcf
xset fp rehash
All I get is the error
xset: bad font path element (#88), possible causes are:
Directory does not exist or has the wrong permissions
Directory missing fonts.dir
Incorrect font server address or syntax
I've copied the permissions from other fonts directories (755 for the
directory, 644 for the contents). What seems to be the problem is that
ttmkfdir is generating a fonts.dir file with the number 0 in it and
nothing else (which looks somewhat dodgy to me!).
Before I log this into bugzilla, can someone else please verify this
problem or just tell me I'm a pillock and help me work this one out?
TTFN

Besides an NFS install of an expanded tree, what install types are currently
supported. For examble, I believe that an ftp install is supported and that
installing off a DVD image will not install.

Fedora Core 4 Test Update: eclipse-3.1.1-1jpp_1fc.FC4.4
by Andrew Overholt
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Test Update Notification
FEDORA-2005-1039
2005-10-31
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 4
Name : eclipse
Version : 3.1.1
Release : 1jpp_1fc.FC4.4
Summary : An open, extensible IDE
Description :
The Eclipse Platform is designed for building integrated development
environments (IDEs) that can be used to create applications as diverse
as web sites, embedded Java(tm) programs, C++ programs, and Enterprise
JavaBeans(tm).
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
This is a release of Eclipse 3.1.1 natively-compiled for
FC4
I had been holding off on releasing this, hoping that
we could fix
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=161483
first, but that looks unlikely at the moment. Since that
bug does not affect all users (and there are some
workarounds for those cases), I'm going ahead with this release.
Please test and comment on the bugs listed. The one bug
that has been fixed over the previous test update
(eclipse-3.1.1-1jpp_1fc.FC4.1) is
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=168040.

xorg-x11 not starting after upgrade
by Jim Cornette
After rebooting the computer with the latest updates, X refused to
start. I decided to use this downtime to compile and install the latest
monolithic build of xorg-x11.
Since I needed to remove the failing xorg-x11 rpms for a clean area to
test the source, I had to remove the window managers.
Using twm shows greater clarity of fonts over what was observed when
using gnome. Are the fonts used in the stock xorg-x11 more numerous than
ones provided in fedora?
