gnome-obex-server problem
by Paul F. Johnson
Hi,
I've just bought a USB Bluetooth dongle and it seems to be okay.
gnome-bluetooth has picked up my mobile phone happily. However, when I
run gnome-obex-server either from the command line or from the
system-tools menu, I get nothing.
From the command line I get
** (gnome-obex-server:6941): Warning **: OBEX server register error: -1
** (gnome-obex-server:6941): Warning **: Unable to initialize OBEX
source
** (gnome-obex-server:6941): Warning **: Unable to initialize OBEX
listener
I've never used bluetooth before, so I don't actually know how to fix
the above problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Do I need to file a bug on this?? Anyone else getting this error? Just
want to make sure before I post a new bug.

nm-applet: won't prompt for WPA passphrase
by Tom London
After installing the new NetworkManager, when I try to connect to a
WPA network, I get the following:
** (nm-applet:3245): CRITICAL **: wsm_get_widget_for_active: assertion
`opt != NULL' failed
** (nm-applet:3245): CRITICAL **: wsm_validate_active: assertion `opt
!= NULL' failed
The popup it titled "Wireless Network Key Required": "Passphrase
Required by Wireless Network", but the 'Wireless Security' pull down
doesn't let me enter or select anything.
Anyone have this working?

Thanks for: Can FC5t2 x86_64 handle onboard VGA and Ethernet...

Thanks to Andy and everybody else who answered my questions. Eventually,
I've found a different solution for the time being. Suse 10.1 beta 2
seems to already have all the needed patches. Sure enough the installer
worked without problems and so did onboard ethernet. Since I* have* to
finish some long and already terribly overdue reports with OpenOffice 2
asap, there was little choice.
I still like Fedora better though :-) and will surely try to install
FC5 final when it's released.
See you soon and thanks again

Problem with NSS update - Firefox, Evolution
by Jonathan Berry
Hi all,
I just installed FC5T2 x86_64 to test it out. Install went smoothly
and I just finished up all the updates. I seem to be having an issue
with the NSS update:
# grep -i nss /var/log/yum.log
Jan 28 00:06:03 Updated: nss.x86_64 3.11-3
Jan 28 00:07:25 Updated: nss.i386 3.11-3
Jan 28 00:20:14 Updated: nss_ldap.i386 248-1
Jan 28 00:20:18 Updated: nss_ldap.x86_64 248-1
I have seen two symptoms of some problem thus far in Firefox and
Evolution. Firefox starts with a warning that it could not initialize
the security component (something to that effect) and gives some
statement that it could be a file permissions problem in the profile
directory. Perms look to be okay in ~/.mozilla/firefox/ and I get no
SELinux or other messages. Evolution flat refuses to run. The
problem is more apparent from the command line:
$ evolution
(evolution:3437): evolution-smime-WARNING **: Failed all methods for
initializing NSS
(evolution:3437): camel-WARNING **: Failed to initialize NSS
Any ideas? Time for a bugzilla entry? (probably after I sleep some...)
Jonathan
PS: I am thus far quite impressed by the new look, feel, and features
of FC5. Keep up the good work!

Problem with kde kdeboard layouts

Control Center / Keyboard Layout
Under "Keyboard Model:" there are no items to select.
I think this happened once before when updating kde versions - I don't
recall what fixed it.

FC5T2 Bad kernel source link
by Dwaine Garden
The link in /lib/modules/2.6.15-1.1878_FC5smp is incorrect. The link
file build should point to
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.15-1.1878_FC5-smp-i686, not
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.15-1.1878_FC5-i686.
I could not compile anything, until I renamed the directory in
/usr/src/kernels/.
I did check bugzilla, and could not find a problem already opened up for
it.
I'm double checking to see if my search efforts failed :-)
