cannot view Miro
by Arne Chr. Jorgensen
hi,
I think I did see some updates on Miro, while I have never seen it play
anything. Does it ?
Hardware: HP C6715b
Graphics : ATI Radeon X1200 Series
No graphic display have run without the ATI Catalyst software.
Miro does download files, while it shut down at the moment one click
on play.
( Tried MPlayer as an alternative to view any video. This works on some formats, while audio may finnish a long time ahead of the video
content in several formats. )
Totem player ? Removed it as I have yet to see it show any video.
What else is there ?

Name of the triage group?
by Jon Stanley
An interesting question came up on IRC, and figured that I would start
a discussion here. The name BugZappers does not really relate to
triage (according to John Poelstra, anyways :) ). So I figured that
it would probably be good to open it up for discussions - what shall
we call ourselves? A few names were suggested on IRC -
Bugtenders (kinda like a bartender, but for bugs) - "hi, I'll take a
kernel+openoffice, please!" :)
BugBlasters
Whatever name we come up with, we should have a banner for it for all
of our wiki pages in order to properly brand it. We can make a design
request to the art team once we figure out what the name is going to
be. As always, discussion is welcome!

FSTAB Hell
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
If some problem develops with /etc/fstab Fedora stops loading
and offers to either invoke a single user shell or reboot.
Unfortunately the single user shell is on a readonly filesystem.
This defeats the purpose of going single user to fix it, doesn't it?
This happens with the current Rawhide and back to at least FC7.
Ubuntu allows one to proceed under this condition.

snake-install fails for x86_64 Rawhide
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
I loaded fc8 on an amd64 test machine and installed snake.
snake-install frp://limestone.uoregon.edu/fedora/development/x86_64/os
This downloaded some files.
On reboot, I got the loading messages about the same as with diskboot.img.
As with diskboot.img, Linux failed to execute /init and the kernel panicked.
At least with snake I seem to be able to reboot fc8 by selecting it at the
grub screen.

xen install of rawhide?
by John Poelstra
Has anyone been able to do a successful xen install of today's rawhide
using the http method in virt-manager? Granted I haven't seen any
rawhide installs work this way for Fedora 9 yet, but previous Fedora
releases install fine.

Rawhide on AMD 64
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
Finally was able to install from the Sunday Rawhide. I was mainly
interested
in trying KDE 4 as the Opensuse and Mint versions were not satisfactory.
The first thing I do when installing a GUI Linix is add an iocn for
a terminal prompt. St this works.
I was unable to enhance the look and feel with the default nv driver.
The 169 Nvidia driver installs but fails to find some needed files.
I haven't been able to get VNC to serve a KDE 4 desktop instead
of Gnome.
I haven't liked previous versions of KDE, but KDE 4 may be more
to my liking.

software update keeps asking for the media
by Fulko Hew
I'm trying to help someone (and I've seen it myself sometimes)...
On a newly installed system, it will probably come up and say
there are updates pending. When you let it continue to
start the update process, it come up with a dialog box that
asks you for the installation media and allows you to either:
cancel, edit repo, continue.
I seems that sometimes, even if you've inserted the media
and press continue, it will still come back and ask for the
media again (without even checking for the media).
In the end... this guy can't update his system, because
it keeps asking for media, and keeps ignore the media.
And like I said, I've seen this too, but then sometimes,
and I don't know the condition, it does work, and then
it works for ever more.
Any comments, clues, or suggestions?

Rawhide, Thinkpad and nipple mouse
by Michel Salim
I've been gradually moving my Thinkpad over from Fedora 8 to Rawhide
since yesterday, and after finishing updating everything this morning,
noticed that on logging out, the nipple mouse stopped working. The
three buttons associated with it are all inactive as well.
The Synaptic trackpad still works. This is most likely an X problem,
since the problem happened before I boot a new kernel. Has this
happened to anyone else? The lines dealing with <default pointer> in
the last two X log files look identical at first glance.
