Bug Hunters congratulations.
by "Jóhann B. Guðmundsson"
I would like to start by thanking all hunters for their tremendously
good work on bug hunting Fedora 10 Cambridge release.
It has ( as always ) been a rolecoster ride.
But our work is far from over we got 272 updates to go through
and a new cycle starting.
For those hunters that want to hop of the rawhide train for a bit
and relax I ask of them to enable updates-testing and feed Bodhi
( http://bodhi.fedoraproject.org ) with karma points.
Leaving updates-testing on is relatively harmless and only in rare
occasions do they bring any breakage to a system if so
please vote in bodhi to prevent the package to be pushed to updates.
For the rest that stay on the rawhide band wagon you know what's
coming for ya yeahaaa...
We all know the only code that is bug free is the code that
does not get written and with a new code and new features
in the horizon they will need hunting...
I will start a new thread that we can reflect on the current QA
process identify what went wrong and how we can improve it.
So don't hesitate to express ideas thoughts and what you felt
went wrong and what you think can be improved regarding
the QA process on that thread.
Best regards
JBG

info on tsclient shipped with f10
by Gianluca Cecchi
What is the reason of having version 2.0.1 in f10 that is marked as
unstable on main project site?
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=192483&package_id=2...
Inside the rpm there is no documentation at all.
It seems you must set all of user, password and domain information
when you setup a connection to a windows machine, otherwise you don't
have the chance to click the ok button to save the connection
name.....
Sometimes I see very conservative decisions (such as compiz 0.7.8, for
which I added an enhancement bugzilla entry... but no answer till
today; or the third time after F8 and FC9 of swapping out echo as the
default icon theme...) and sometimes I see decisions that are very
hard to understand...
tried to see the rpm changelog, but I see only the version update and no other.
Are the ones using tsclient happy with 2.0.1? Or perhaps in F10 one
should use by default another integrated gnome application to
establish connections to windows/linux machines with vnc/rdesktop?
I'm also going to evaluate krdc that is some time I'm not using... and
that seems more comfortable to use and configure from a first look.
Bye,
Gianluca

Keyboard Mapping: VMware Workstation 6.5 on F10
by Christopher A Williams
There's now a KB from VMware that fixes the keyboard mapping issue that
Workstation 6.5 has on F10 (and other new distros). Should we consider
adding it to the F10 release notes or some other easily accessible
place?
Here's the KB article info:
Title: Linux Hosts That Use the evdev Driver for Keyboards Do Not Map
Keys Correctly in Any Guest
KB Article ID: 1007439
Date Last Modified: 11-10-2008

Chris

XO: Who ate my rpms
by Bryan Kearney
Ok... this is probably a dumb question. I booted up snap3. I opened a
terminal, su -, and then installed ekiga. I selected shutdown from the
menu, and it seemed to hang (not fully shutting down).
I reboot, log in, and there is no ekiga.
so.. who ate my rpms?

saving the desktop?
by Ralf Corsepius
Hi,
what is the trick to have one's desktop saved upon logout in current
rawhide/FC10?
System->Preferences->Personal->Sessions->"Session
Preferences"->"Options"->"Automatically remember running applications
when logging out" doesn't seem to work for me.
I always end up with an empty desktop upon new logins.

Wednesday's Rawhide
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
Installed 64 bit on an Asus a8n-e and MSD p43neo3 with static IP
selected for each. Upon installation, Asus used the specified
static IP address, MSI ignored it and ran dhcp insteadl
Software add fails to fond a repository on either.
Audio system on MSI does not allow selection of CD Audio
for recording.
