duplicity-0.5.18-1.fc10 (FEDORA-2009-5425)
Encrypted bandwidth-efficient backup using rsync algorithm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
- Added support for RackSpace's CloudFiles, cf+http. - Added support for Tahoe-
LAFS from the patch, upstream patch #6743: Tahoe backend for duplicity
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6743) - Only half of this bug is fixed but
it's still useful, upstream bug #21792: pipe call fails with an error OSError:
[Errno 24] Too many open files (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?21792) -
Changed from using ulimit external command to resource.getrlimit to check open
files limit. - Removed one line of code left from some testing that I did that
caused a crash when the target dir was empty and collection-status was
requested. - Moved from using the df command to get temp space availability to
Python's os.statvfs() call. Not all df commands work the same way. - Upstream
patch #6813: Making changelist easy to read
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6813) - Upstream patch #6814: Ignore
comments in filelists (https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6814) - Upstream bug
#24825: duplicity warn on insufficient TMPDIR space availability and low max
open file limits pre-backup. (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?24825) -
Upstream bug #25594: wrong backup statistics
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25594) - Upstream bug #25976: Password
requested when not needed. (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25976) - Upstream
patch #6806: More graceful handling of old --short-filename files
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6806) - Added tilde and variable expansion
to the source or target argument that is not a URL. - FTP backend was failing
on PureFTPd when the "-x ''" option was removed from the second ncftpls popen, a
fix that was implemented due to bug #24741. This fix does the ls in one pass by
extracting the last entry on the 'ls -l' listing. - If a file is unreadable due
to access rights or other non-fatal errors, put out error message and continue
rather than dying messily with a traceback. - Added tilde '~' expansion and
variable expansion in the options that require a filename. You can now have
this "--archive-dir=~/ArchDir/$SYSNAME" if you need it. No expansion is applied
to the source or target URL's. - Fixed problem I caused, again, where
sys.exit() was trapping instead of exiting. Added big note to not to do that
again. - After email voting among known duplicity contributors, the decision
was reached to revert to the GPL Version 2 license, so with their consensus,
duplicity is now underGPL Version 2. - Revert to calling NcFTP utilities (ls,
get, put) directly rather than scripting ncftp via pexpect by reverting to the
0.5.07 version of ftpbackend.py. - Changed fatal error regarding version 3.2.0
of ncftpput to warning level since it has been reported that the problem does
not occur on most distributions. - Changed from log.Log with numbered log
levels to log.Debug (9), log.Info (5-8), log.Notice (3-4), log.Warn (1-2),
log.FatalError (0). The -vN option has not changed. Verbosity may also be one
of: character [ewnid], or word ['error', 'warning', 'notice', 'info', 'debug'].
The default is 4 (Notice). The options -v4, -vn, and -vnotice are functionally
equivalent, as are the mixed-case versions, -vN, -vNotice, -vNOTICE. -
Normalized include statements and tried to insure that all duplicity includes
were from the duplicity module. - Upstream patch #6790: Add --exclude-if-
present https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6790 - Add more error detection to
FTP backend. - Fix backends so sleep does not occur after last retry. - Fix so
BackendException does not cause traceback except when verbosity is at level 5 or
higher (Info level). - Adjust log levels so some errors show up with default
verbosity. - Fixed bug where an extra comma caused a traceback during a warning
about unnecessary sig files. Plus fixed print so the real filename would show
up and not a Python object representation. - Add Changelog.GNU to website and
distribution to add a bit of detail showing the CVS changes via rcs2log. Added
dist/mkGNUChangelog.sh. - Upstream bug #22908: Don't block gpg-agent
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?22908) - To fix the above, --use-agent was
added as a command line option. When this is specified and asymetric encryption
is enabled, then all GnuPG passphrases will come from the gpg-agent or
equivalent program and no passphrase prompt will be issued. - Upstream bug
#25787: Usernames with escaped @-sign are not handled properly
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25787) - Upstream bug #25976: Password
requested when not needed (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25976) - Upstream
patch #6787: import duplicity.GnuPGInterface explicitly
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6787)

yum-3.2.23-3.fc10 (FEDORA-2009-5328)
RPM installer/updater
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Fixes, translation updates, etc new features: - downgrade command - you can
now run (in a limited sense) downgrades. It's not guaranteed to depsolve
properly but if you specify the pkgs properly it should download and work.
Useful for reverting a broken upgrade pkg. But don't try reverting a whole
distro update. Chances are LOW that it will work for you. - yumdb - this is a
separate, simple-text "database" of information about each package that you
install/update. Specifically information like what repo a package was installed
from, why it was installed, etc, etc. More things will be added here as we
progress. Right now, if you install a pkg you can see what repo it came from in
yum info pkgname output. - translation updates - more unicode fixes -
more skipbroken fixes - yumdb support - fixes for a number of the
pylint errors reported - fixes for the pylint fixes

High-performance and highly configurable free RADIUS server
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
- update to latest upstream release, from upstream Changelog: Feature
improvements * radclient exits with 0 on successful (accept / ack), and 1
otherwise (no response / reject) * Added support for %%{sql:UPDATE ..},
and insert/delete Patch from Arran Cudbard-Bell * Added sample
"do not respond" policy. See raddb/policy.conf and raddb/sites-
available/do_not_respond * Cleanups to Suse spec file from Norbert
Wegener * New VSAs for Juniper from Bjorn Mork * Include more RFC
dictionaries in the default install * More documentation for the WiMAX
module * Added "chase_referrals" and "rebind" configuration to rlm_ldap.
This helps with Active Directory. See raddb/modules/ldap * Don't load
pre/post-proxy if proxying is disabled. * Added %%{md5:...}, which
returns MD5 hash in hex. * Added configurable "retry_interval" and
"poll_interval" for "detail" listeners. * Added
"delete_mppe_keys" configuration option to rlm_wimax. Apparently some
WiMAX clients misbehave when they see those keys. * Added experimental
rlm_ruby from http://github.com/Antti/freeradius-server/tree/master
* Add Tunnel attributes to ldap.attrmap * Enable virtual servers to be
reloaded on HUP. For now, only the "authorize", "authenticate", etc.
processing sections are reloaded. Clients and "listen" sections are
NOT reloaded. * Updated "radwatch" script to be more robust. See
scripts/radwatch * Added certificate compatibility notes in
raddb/certs/README, for compatibility with different operating systems.
(i.e. Windows) * Permit multiple "-e" in radmin. * Add support for
originating CoA-Request and Disconnect-Request. See raddb/sites-
available/originate-coa. * Added "lifetime" and "max_queries" to
raddb/sql.conf. This helps address the problem of hung SQL sockets.
* Allow packets to be injected via radmin. See "inject help" in
radmin. * Answer VMPS reconfirmation request. Patch from Hermann Lauer.
* Sample logrotate script in scripts/logrotate.freeradius * Add
configurable poll interval for "detail" listeners * New "raddebug"
command. This prints debugging information from a running server. See
"man raddebug. * Add "require_message_authenticator" configuration to
home_server configuration. This makes the server add Message-
Authenticator to all outgoing Access-Request packets. * Added
smsotp module, as contributed by Siemens. * Enabled the administration
socket in the default install. See raddb/sites-available/control-
socket, and "man radmin" * Handle duplicate clients, such as with
replicated or load-balanced SQL servers and "readclients = yes"
Bug fixes * Minor changes to allow building without VQP. * Minor
fixes from John Center * Fixed raddebug example * Don't crash when
deleting attributes via unlang * Be friendlier to very fast clients
* Updated the "detail" listener so that it only polls once, and not
many times in a row, leaking memory each time... * Update comparison for
Packet-Src-IP-Address (etc.) so that the operators other than '=='
work. * Did autoconf magic to work around weird libtool bug * Make
rlm_perl keep tags for tagged attributes in more situations * Update UID
checking for radmin * Added "include_length" field for TTLS. It's needed
for RFC compliance, but not (apparently) for interoperability. *
Clean up control sockets when they are closed, so that we don't leak
memory. * Define SUN_LEN for systems that don't have it. * Correct
some boundary conditions in the conditional checker ("if") in "unlang".
Bug noted by Arran Cudbard-Bell. * Work around minor building issues in
gmake. This should only have affected developers. * Change how
we manage unprivileged user/group, so that we do not create control
sockets owned by root. * Fixed more minor issues found by Coverity.
* Allow raddb/certs/bootstrap to run when there is no "make" command
installed. * In radiusd.conf, run_dir depends on the name of the program,
and isn't hard-coded to "..../radiusd" * Check for EOF in more places in
the "detail" file reader. * Added Freeswitch dictionary. * Chop
ethernet frames in VMPS, rather than droppping packets. * Fix EAP-TLS
bug. Patch from Arnaud Ebalard * Don't lose string for regex-compares in
the "users" file. * Expose more functions in rlm_sql to rlm_sqlippool,
which helps on systems where RTLD_GLOBAL is off. * Fix typos in
MySQL schemas for ippools. * Remove macro that was causing build issues
on some platforms. * Fixed issues with dead home servers. Bug noted by
Chris Moules. * Fixed "access after free" with some dynamic clients. -
fix packaging bug, some directories missing execute permission
/etc/raddb/dictionary now readable by all.

yum-3.2.23-3.fc11 (FEDORA-2009-5413)
RPM installer/updater
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Fixes, translation updates, etc new features: - downgrade command - you can
now run, in a limited sense, downgrades.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog:
* Wed May 20 2009 Seth Vidal <skvidal at fedoraproject.org> - 3.2.23-2

duplicity-0.5.18-1.fc9 (FEDORA-2009-5427)
Encrypted bandwidth-efficient backup using rsync algorithm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
- Added support for RackSpace's CloudFiles, cf+http. - Added support for Tahoe-
LAFS from the patch, upstream patch #6743: Tahoe backend for duplicity
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6743) - Only half of this bug is fixed but
it's still useful, upstream bug #21792: pipe call fails with an error OSError:
[Errno 24] Too many open files (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?21792) -
Changed from using ulimit external command to resource.getrlimit to check open
files limit. - Removed one line of code left from some testing that I did that
caused a crash when the target dir was empty and collection-status was
requested. - Moved from using the df command to get temp space availability to
Python's os.statvfs() call. Not all df commands work the same way. - Upstream
patch #6813: Making changelist easy to read
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6813) - Upstream patch #6814: Ignore
comments in filelists (https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6814) - Upstream bug
#24825: duplicity warn on insufficient TMPDIR space availability and low max
open file limits pre-backup. (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?24825) -
Upstream bug #25594: wrong backup statistics
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25594) - Upstream bug #25976: Password
requested when not needed. (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25976) - Upstream
patch #6806: More graceful handling of old --short-filename files
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6806) - Added tilde and variable expansion
to the source or target argument that is not a URL. - FTP backend was failing
on PureFTPd when the "-x ''" option was removed from the second ncftpls popen, a
fix that was implemented due to bug #24741. This fix does the ls in one pass by
extracting the last entry on the 'ls -l' listing. - If a file is unreadable due
to access rights or other non-fatal errors, put out error message and continue
rather than dying messily with a traceback. - Added tilde '~' expansion and
variable expansion in the options that require a filename. You can now have
this "--archive-dir=~/ArchDir/$SYSNAME" if you need it. No expansion is applied
to the source or target URL's. - Fixed problem I caused, again, where
sys.exit() was trapping instead of exiting. Added big note to not to do that
again. - After email voting among known duplicity contributors, the decision
was reached to revert to the GPL Version 2 license, so with their consensus,
duplicity is now underGPL Version 2. - Revert to calling NcFTP utilities (ls,
get, put) directly rather than scripting ncftp via pexpect by reverting to the
0.5.07 version of ftpbackend.py. - Changed fatal error regarding version 3.2.0
of ncftpput to warning level since it has been reported that the problem does
not occur on most distributions. - Changed from log.Log with numbered log
levels to log.Debug (9), log.Info (5-8), log.Notice (3-4), log.Warn (1-2),
log.FatalError (0). The -vN option has not changed. Verbosity may also be one
of: character [ewnid], or word ['error', 'warning', 'notice', 'info', 'debug'].
The default is 4 (Notice). The options -v4, -vn, and -vnotice are functionally
equivalent, as are the mixed-case versions, -vN, -vNotice, -vNOTICE. -
Normalized include statements and tried to insure that all duplicity includes
were from the duplicity module. - Upstream patch #6790: Add --exclude-if-
present https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6790 - Add more error detection to
FTP backend. - Fix backends so sleep does not occur after last retry. - Fix so
BackendException does not cause traceback except when verbosity is at level 5 or
higher (Info level). - Adjust log levels so some errors show up with default
verbosity. - Fixed bug where an extra comma caused a traceback during a warning
about unnecessary sig files. Plus fixed print so the real filename would show
up and not a Python object representation. - Add Changelog.GNU to website and
distribution to add a bit of detail showing the CVS changes via rcs2log. Added
dist/mkGNUChangelog.sh. - Upstream bug #22908: Don't block gpg-agent
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?22908) - To fix the above, --use-agent was
added as a command line option. When this is specified and asymetric encryption
is enabled, then all GnuPG passphrases will come from the gpg-agent or
equivalent program and no passphrase prompt will be issued. - Upstream bug
#25787: Usernames with escaped @-sign are not handled properly
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25787) - Upstream bug #25976: Password
requested when not needed (https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25976) - Upstream
patch #6787: import duplicity.GnuPGInterface explicitly
(https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?6787)

Experiences upgrading omen.com to Rawhide
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
Rawhide seems to be settling down so I decided
it was time to try Rawhide on my server which had
been running Fedora 10 with an older Rawhide kernel.
Initial installation and network setup went about as
well as can be expected given the two networks
and local installation files.
At first Apache and crontab just didn't work. Not seeing
any relevant error messages, it took a while to identify
Selinux as the bad actor. Things worked after disabling
Selinux.
I installed dhcpd with add/remove software. This version
doesn't work with the services applet. Another version
of dhcpd apparently does work this way.
The advanced volume control app now starts the mixer.
May I suggest it be called what it is - mixer.
Previously reported problems with the mixer not being
able to select CD/AUX remain. I am trying to isolate a
problem where the recording gain changes for no
apparent reason, then changes back some time later.
Otherwise, with Selinux turned off and a few other tweeks Rawhide
seems to be stable running omen.com.

Release Criteria
by Allen Kistler
was: Shouldn't the fact that beagle doesn't work with firefox
be a release blocker?

So in a slightly different direction...
All the release criteria on the referenced page are about booting and
running, which makes sense as far as it goes, but what about shutting
down? Although they're mostly fixed now, there was a series of bugs
dealing with F11 being unable under certain conditions to shut down
without the use of the power button.
It's a generic enough condition, I think it should probably apply to any
release of any OS, maybe here with wording something like "installed
system MUST be able to shut down or reboot from any runlevel" and
perhaps with an additional "installed system SHOULD be able to change
between any two runlevels."
For most wikis, I'd have put the question on the Talk page, but
ReleaseCriteria doesn't have a Talk page.
Anyway, thoughts?

Fedora11 64bit flash not working for me.
by Leslie S Satenstein
I first tried installing the flash with 64bit rules (fedora wiki and adobe website), and got no flash working. None at all.
I did a cleanup and tried the 32bit installation for flash, and it too does not work.
On this system, flash worked 100% for fedora10.
The differences that I see are a) Mozilla Firefox 3.5b4 (not the standard firefox)
b) Some libraries as indicated in the adobe website, and elsewhere are not available, or have been renamed, so I don't know what to install.
If you have a step by step set of rules for me to follow for the fedora11 64bit system, I would be delighted to try it.
Following the comment from the adobe website, I entered firefox with about:plugins Nothing show flash as installed.

xawtv dependencies still broken
by Bill Davidsen
It was noted for fc10 that xawtv requires fonts which are (a) not loaded by
default, and (b) omitted from the dependencies. I note that this is still the
case. When it was discussed some time ago someone said there was a BZ entry for
it, so I didn't file one, but I can't find it now.
After watching me for about half an hour when I said "yum pulls in the things
you need," the owner of the laptop and his friends concluded that Linux is just
for hobby use, they will stick with Windows. The limits of a 4GB thumb drive
didn't leave room to download every known font, and fc10 won't record from a
webcam half the time even when xawtv "works" as well as it can.
I will look for the bug Tuesday, clearly no one is going to fix it before the
release, since it's gone at least six weeks without a fix now.
