I'm trying it in i686 and x86_64 systems and so far seems to work fine on F12. On the x86_64 system, on a Dell i1545 laptop, I do notice a couple of messages in the dmesg output that I don't understand. One pair is Calgary: detecting Calgary via BIOS EBDA Calgary: unable to locate Rio Grande table in EBDA - bailing! The other is a bunch of messages of the form name_count maxed, losing inode data: dev=00:07, inode 9303 repeated several times, and also bunch more with different dev and inode numbers. Is either of these bad? I don't get them on the i686 system. jhhaynes at earthlink dot net

I've made available DVD deltaisos for Fedora 12 -> Fedora 13 Alpha TC1 (both i386 and x86_64) at http://thepiratebay.org/user/andre14965/ i386: Fraction of full ISO size: 37.3% applydeltaiso's approximate running time: 40 minutes x86_64: Fraction of full ISO size: 37.3% applydeltaiso's approximate running time: 45 minutes Using these requires a box running Fedora 11 or later (Fedora 10 or below will NOT work due to the lack of xz support in the deltarpm package), the updated deltarpm package (currently version 3.5), and if running Fedora 12 or later, the deltaiso package. Detailed instructions are at the above link. My upstream bandwidth is only 768 Kb/s, so seeders would be welcome. I believe (but am not absolutely sure) that deltaisos generated using any of the above platforms should be identical, so anyone who already has the DVD ISOs for both Fedora 12 and Fedora 13 Alpha TC1 should be able to generate the same disos as mine with the makedeltaiso command makedeltaiso oldiso newiso deltaiso and immediately start seeding without having to download first. If there are any problems let me know.

Continuous Build and Automated Testing of LiveCD

(I posted the message below on the Fedora LiveCD list and it was suggested that I post the question on this 'test' list as well.) Hello, Has anyone set up a continuous build and automated testing system for LiveCD development? I am in the process of creating one and would like to compare notes and discuss approaches. The objective is to perform regression testing on LiveCDs where all configuration is specified in a kickstart file. We must be able to capture the boot messages as part of this testing. I have the continuous build portion working and am now starting on the automated testing piece. Here is an activity diagram for the build/test phases (note that the testing phase has not yet been implemented): http://jaroker.com/EA4.png (You can ignore the "wake up slave" and "power off slave". We have a noisy server dedicated to the build. Since it is only run 1-2 times per day, the build process turns the server on/off as needed.) Here is what I am trying to achieve: - LiveCD is customized via a kickstart file and this kickstart is committed to SVN - Build server will connect to a workstation (not a virtual server due to loopback restrictions) and check out kickstart - LiveCD scripts are run on the workstation - Kernel files are created and custom applications are loaded into the file structure - ISO image is created - Qemu is used to boot the ISO image, but where the console is redirected to a TTY - An Expect script telnets into Qemu to start the boot and the Expect script captures boot messages to a text file (We have this Expect process working and it seems to be stable.) - Boot messages are analyzed using another script for errors and warnings - Selenium grid is used to test the boot disk (running under Qemu) by simulating user activity to run regression tests on the LiveCD - If the original kickstart passes all tests, then the kernel files are committed to SVN as artifacts Please let me know if anyone has experience doing this, or can recommend simplifications to regression testing. Most importantly, please tell me if I may have overlooked some existing testing framework for LiveCDs. I would hate to do this work only to realize that it has already been done. Thank you, Jon

boot hangs with rsyslog-4.4.2-5.fc13.x86_64

After updating to today's Rawhide, my system hangs on boot, the last message displayed is, "starting system logger." Reverting to rsyslog-4.4.2-4.fc13.x86_64 eliminates the problem. Anyone else seeing this before I file a bz?

System frozen on rawhide at start-up
