Adding tests for Fedora Linux on VMware Workstation/Fusion

Hey folks, I'd like to ask if we could consider adding regular tests for running Fedora Linux on VMware Workstation and VMware Fusion. Both products are now available for use at no-cost for any purpose[1]. Notably, VMware Fusion is the only reasonably supportable hypervisor for Fedora Linux VMs on Apple Silicon Macs, and the Fedora KDE SIG *explicitly* supports this use-case for Fedora KDE. (The other option is Parallels Desktop, but we don't have Parallels guest tools in Fedora, and I'm pretty sure we can't because it uses its own kernel modules and might not be fully FOSS.) Is there a path forward to adding it as a test-case, maybe even with some automated testing? kernel-6.12.1 breaks VirtualBox hosts by default

The latest test day kernel-6.12.1-200.fc41.x86_64 was working great for me until I tried to launch a VirtualBox VM. "VirtualBox can't operate in VMX root mode. Please disable the KVM kernel extension, recompile your kernel and reboot (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE)." Recompile you kernel? After I picked myself off the floor and did some searching I came across a fix that seems to work. Fix is to type the following: sudo modprobe -r kvm_intel This allows VirtualBox to work however it breaks launching QEMU/KVM virtual machines until you undo it with this: sudo modprobe kvm_intel This is a bit nasty. If I boot kernel-6.11.10 I can run VirtualBox and QEMU/KVM VMs no problem (obviously not at the same time). Is this expected behavior with 6.12 or is it somehow specific to me? Can't we have the module unloaded *by default* and have QEMU/KVM load it as required? Then unload it when the last VM exits? Fedora 39 end of life today (2024-11-26)

Hello all, Fedora Linux fN is going end of life for updates and support on 2024-11-26 (today!). No more updates of any kind, including security updates or security announcements, will be available for Fedora Linux 39 after today. All the updates of Fedora Linux 39 being pushed to stable will be stopped as well. Fedora Linux 40 will continue to receive updates until approximately one month after the release of Fedora Linux 41. The maintenance schedule of Fedora Linux releases is documented on the Fedora Project docs[1]. The docs also contain instructions[2] on how to upgrade from a previous release of Fedora Linux to a version receiving updates. Increased levels of openQA test failures due to multiple issues

Hey, folks. This is just a heads up that we're experiencing increased levels of openQA test failures due to a few problems: 1. Various tests need to check things out from pagure.io, but lately it is being flooded by scraper bots and frequently going unresponsive. This causes tests to fail if they try and use pagure.io while it's unresponsive. 2. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2319081 is causing the KDE desktop_browser test to fail quite often. I tried one workaround for this but it failed because there also seems to be a weird bug with launching Firefox from the bottom panel. I'll try and figure out another workaround tomorrow. 3. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2325780 has hit a few Rawhide and ELN tests (though not as many as I was worried it might). I apologize for these failures, especially to any maintainers whose updates get gated by these failures. I'm restarting failed tests as promptly as I can.
