Default wallpaper switched to JXL for Fedora 42 Beta

Hello everyone, Design team switched to JXL for the Fedora 42 default wallpaper, which may impact some spins. For beta release, it will be nice for each spin to adopt JXL format as soon as possible. Alternatively, those wishing to keep PNG requires a conversion upstream from JXL to PNG[1]. 41 to 42 upgrade notes VM & Native

Upgraded a VirtualBox guest from 41 to 42 (with RPMFusion multimedia installed) without incident. I have to boot an older 41 kernel because of BZ2339180 otherwise I have an unusable screen size, no copy/paste with host, and no shared folders. Hopefully the BZ gets fixed soon. Upgraded an Intranet server from 41 to 42 (also with RPMFusion multimedia installed) and ssh/cockpit/httpd/xrdp/samba all working fine. H/W is as follows: Dell Precision T5610 2 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2603 v2 @ 1.80GHz (8 cores total) NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] (rev a1) Both have plenty of stuff in /usr/sbin due to loads of FTBFS issues preventing the merge changes from getting out. -- Ian Laurie FAS: nixuser | IRC: nixuser TZ: Australia/Sydney

However, folks have been giving it minor touch-ups, and I think livecd-creator was actually still working until fairly recently - jforbes noted it wasn't working for the most recent kernel test day, but it *was* working for the previous one. We should probably update it to document use of Kiwi, since we're gradually moving things towards that (and it's probably a bit easier to run locally than livemedia-creator). Where did dnf cache go? Where did fedora-qa on IRC go?

Hi Everyone, I use a custom script to manage local repos of cached rpms. The script has been misbehaving since dnf5. At some point, I thought the devs were reworking repoquery. Now, I can't find the packages after running a dnf transaction. I still have keepcache=1 (or True) in dnf.conf. /var/cache/dnf does not get new packages. Did something substantial change? Secondly, I logged into #fedora-qa channel on liberachat and discovered that the topic is more than two years old (last changed in 15-11-2022). What is going on? Am I losing touch? Regards Onyeibo

Greetings to the Fedora QA Team, My name is Christopher and I am hoping to join and contribute to Fedora going forward. I've thought hard about how I can assist and I believe testing upcoming releases is where I'd be best suited. Giving Google site:fedoraproject.org 42 alpha beta final rc dates produces nothing useful. Roadmap, branch and schedule don't help as search terms either. What is the roadmap called? Will bin-sbin-merge migrate existing systems?

For an existing Rawhide system, will regular updates migrate it to a merged bin-sbin? I am asking because it looks to me like it happened already but my system still has a /usr/sbin directory.
