I get the same issue with ATI Mobility Radeon™ X2100  graphics card.

You should consider to install a Fedora 9 Preview
http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/

I successfully installed "Fedora 9 Preview x86_64 Live KDE".

Or you can wait for the Fedora 9 RC1, perhaps today.
