I do agree orientation changes are pretty erratic, at least for me at the moment. However, you can disable orientation changes by locking the screen on the desired position.

As soon as there is any movement of the physical machine, the screen orientation changes accordingly. Eg: When I lift my laptop and if the screen is faced downward the screen orientation inverts. A similar issue happens when it is bent right or left.
The only option to solve this is to restart or do some hectic up and down of the physical machine.
