Adding the extra "fi" worked for me.

Well, I booted into single user. Vied /sbin/start_udev and added a 'fi'
to the code to fix the sintax error (see arrow):
if [ -z "$SELINUX" ]; then
if [ -n "$selinuxfs" ] && [ "`cat
/proc/self/attr/current`" != "kernel" ]; then
if [ -r $selinuxfs/enforce ] ; then
# assume enforcing if you can't read it
if [ -n "$SELINUX" -a "$SELINUX" = "1" -o
"$SELINUX" = "enforcing"
mount -n -o fscontext=system_u:object_r:device_t,mode=0755 \
-t tmpfs none "$udev_root" >/dev/null 2>&1
mount -n -o mode=0755 -t tmpfs none "$udev_root"
Then I rebooted and other than kudzu wanting to add a new graphic card
(which I ignored), it came up ok.
