openffice.org won't start up

After a recent rawhide update, openoffice.org won't start at all.  Typing
"openoffice.org" in a shell gives no errors so I'm at a loss to provide any
useful details.

I seem to recall my last update including some kde and xorg components. Everything seems
to be working fine.  Anybody else having any problems with OpenOffice?

does renaming / removing  ~/.openoffice.org  make it work?

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=477174
The next OOo build for rawhide will workaround this, at the expense of
loosing various metacity workarounds while I try and boil a standalone
test-case out of the problem.
