I have to set up a machine as dual boot 32/64 bit and I would really love to not
waste space on swap partitions being duplicated if I don't have to. That said,
if I do two installs and use the same swap partition, what evil will come of it?
The only obvious issue I see is suspending the non-default kernel and trying to
boot the other (found that in FC6) and I can avoid that. Any other know issues I
have to avoid?
The object is to run one 64 bit program without reinstalling the whole stable 32
bit environment.

Yeah, you definately don't want to hibernate to swap on one OS and try
to boot the other. You'll just lose your hibernated system and leave
the filesystems in inconsistent state. In general it is very bad to
boot /anything/ other that the original hibernated kernel when after
you have hibernated. That's why grub doesn't show you a menu when you
boot up in a hibernated state.
The object is to run one 64 bit program without reinstalling the
whole
stable 32 bit environment.
Why not go all 64-bit? I've been using it, and have had zero issues
with 32/64 bit compatibility.

It's safe if you don't touch *ANY* filesystems that were mounted when
the system was hibernated. For example, it is unsafe to mount the
Windows partition from Linux, hibernate, then boot Windows.

Really? I found the only one that really works is youtube, and that
FSVO 'works'. Every other media sharing site I've tried like vimeo, ovi
even the cesspool that is myspace seem to fail completely.
It's not just video/sound playback that fails either. Finance.google.com
is great if pretty cyan squares are your thing. There's a bunch of similar
sites that have flash UI's that just fall to pieces.
(swfdec is still 1000% more useful than gnash, which can't seem to much
of anything other than segfault the browser)

(and while I can turn animated GIFs off, I can't stop flash), flicker
and generally distract me from what I want to see.
I dislike it less when I'm running adblocker+, but I use so many
different computers/OSes setting filters becomes a chore.

citicards site has a problem with Linux and Flash. I wrote them with the
workaround and they just wrote back that they don't support Linux. If I
were having their financial difficulties, I'd have treated it
differently, but oh well.
Back to the OP's question, you shouldn't have a problem.
Do a google for the unofficial Fedora FAQ--its advice is still good for
F10. Many others, as well as myself, have no trouble with flash on 64
bit F10.

Ha, I sent CitiCard a similar mailer saying there are serious problems with
their flash under linux. At least you got a response.
Definitely try flashblock (a firefox plugin). It keeps annoying things at
bay and when there is something worth seeing in flash, its apparent what to
click on.

Back to the OP's question, you shouldn't have a problem.
Do a google for the unofficial Fedora FAQ--its advice is still good for
F10. Many others, as well as myself, have no trouble with flash on 64
bit F10.

Remind them that they should be supporting their customers
not supporting some product vendor. It is easy to test for a plugin
and if absent provide useful images.... Flash is cool but way overused.
MS is promoting a new set of tools under the general heading of Silverfish
or something like that. Yet another way to "capture" market by establishing
an exclusionary standard tool set....

Oh, I did. I even wrote them a snailmail explaining what they were
doing wrong.
I never received an answer.
So, once another credit card company gave me the same cashback offer, I
stopped using them.
(Most companies' sites use Flash--I guess their web designers convince
them that it attracts people, rather than annoying them,
slowing down the site, and everything else that Flash does.
However, it seems that only Citibank hasn't upgraded to get rid
of this known transparency bug.)
Yes, I even suggested to them that they take 2 minutes and google
citicards.com flash linux and that they would find that various people
had posted on their blogs or elsewhere that they no longer used their
Citibank credit card because of it, but I guess they felt they were
doing so well they don't need it.
Perhaps this attitude is one reason they're doing so poorly these days.

What has "like" to do with it? Both my professional (meeting replays and
training sessions) and personal (news) life requires both flash and realaudio. I
can't really see remaining ignorant of what's going on in the world because
it's
not served on the right format. And I sure can't see having a Windows machine
just to keep informed.

You might have a use for flash. When I need flash, I will use it, but
that rarely happens, and never has on the 64-bit Linux systems I mentioned.
I don't have a problem with news sans moving pictures. If it's not on
the wireless and not in the paper (rubbish tho the paper might be), and
not on one of my favourite 'net news sites, it's way too much news for
my poor brain.
75 basis points is all the news I need today. :clap: :clap: :clap:
