[Test-Announce] Fedora 17 Beta Release Candidate 2 (RC2) Available Now!

As per the Fedora 17 schedule [1], Fedora 17 Beta Release Candidate 2
(RC2) is now available for testing. Content information, including
changes, can be found at https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/5141 .
Please see the following pages for download links (including delta ISOs)
and testing instructions. Normally dl.fedoraproject.org should provide
the fastest download, but download-ib01.fedoraproject.org is available
as a mirror (with an approximately 1 hour lag) in case of trouble. To
use it, just replace "dl" with "download-ib01" in the download URL.

Special note on this one: it's time for another sprint, I'm afraid. We
decided at the go/no-go meeting to at least take a shot at validating
this before the release readiness meeting tomorrow and hence avoiding a
slip (it'd be nice to do a non-slip release...)

So, the priority is to get all the Alpha / Beta installation validation
tests done, and the target is tomorrow afternoon sometime, American time
(I don't think we have an exact time for the readiness meeting yet).

Final tests are less important of course, and we can probably transfer
most of the Desktop tests from RC1, as not much changed in the desktop
packages. The big changes are anaconda, so the installation tests are
the most important thing.

If everyone can help fill out the installation validation matrix so we
can hit the ship date (if they pass, of course!) that'd be great!

So, we found a really annoying bug in RC2. RC3 is pending. But it only
changes libvirt, so all RC2 tests should be valid. Keep testing RC2,
we'll transfer all RC2 results into the RC3 matrix. thanks!

Actually, the bug is turning out to be more intractable than we thought.
So probably no RC3, and we'll almost certainly be slipping.

Obviously we still need to test RC2, but there's no longer any rush, so
don't anyone push yourselves! :)

What a pity :(

The bug we're dealing with is
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802475 . Unfortunately,
comps got changed in the last two days to add gnome-boxes to the live
spin and default DVD install, which pulls in libvirt, which has that
problem.

I did an liveinst of beta rc2 desktop using the --no-memcheck option and things
worked. I'll be filing two bugs though. There is a udev rule warning that
displays during the boot process that I think we don't want for final.
Also I saw messages in the logs for first boot that indicated it was
running xrdb with an invalid parameter list. While I didn't notice any problems
as a result of this, it should get fixed.
