The installer does launch (eventually).
But for these other apps there's no additional information in the
journal why they're failing, but it's all related so it doesn't make
sense to file three separate bugs. The live boot is using X for
everything, not even gdm on wayland still.

note the logs I posted for trying to launch apps from the overview have
the same 'Unable to init server' messages.
