Printing in rawhide

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem with rawhide. I select
print from firefox or evince and I can "Print to File", but if I select
my printers, the OK button dims. But I can print from Thunderbird (which
uses its own print stuff) just fine.

I think it is a problem with libgnomeprint22, but I have installed the
latest version from koji or from the development repo and still have
this issue.

Works fine here.  The OK button dims while the PPD is being fetched, but
becomes sensitive when it has been fetched.

but I think that dialog comes from GTK+:
gtk2-2.12.8-1.fc9

Interesting about the PPD file. I've waited up to 5 mins for the button
to come up and the "status" field is blank. Both of my printers are
network printers and they work fine from evince on F8. FF on F8 uses the
thunderbird like print dialog so it is not a fair comparison. The
printers also work fine in the Administration->Printers dialog.

See what's in .xsession-errors.  Also, try tcpdump to see what network
traffic is occurring; or look at the /var/log/cups/access_log file on

in /var/log/cups/access_log there is this

The /usr/local looks odd there, since in Fedora everything is generally
/usr, of course that maybe just a list of directories that cups-driverd
is looking in.

Also, I reinstalled my printers just to be sure there was nothing wrong
there. Everything reinstalled right, the Print button is just disabled
for those dialogs using

I tested the printer with KDE and it works fine. I also tested plugging
the printer in via USB and I thought that cups would have auto installed
the printer, but it didn't but after I set it up, no GTK app would allow
me to print to it.

Did you look at access_log on the *server*?  You want to see some GET
actiosn for the PPDs.

That will be in error_log, not access_log, and those messages are
harmless.

Take a look at the network traffic while the GTK+ print dialog is being
displayed.  Are connections being made to the network CUPS server on
port 631?  These are in HTTP -- what's the status code?  Does a PPD come
back? etc

I also tried installing cups-pdf and that doesn't work either..

BTW, this machine was a working F8 box that I upgraded to development
via yum.

I have made sure that I did a yum groupinstall 'Gnome Desktop
Environment' and 'Base'

FIXED!...

I got it working, I had to enable 'Allow Remote Administration' in my
Server Settings... Somehow that seems like something that is a little
too open. Also my F8 box does not need this option checked.

Well I turned it off and now it works right as well... really really odd
as that was the only thing I changed at that time.

Before I turned on that setting

http://localhost:631 didn't give my anything, and now it does even with
allow remote admin unchecked.

I had even rebooted a couple of times.

chkconfig --list | grep cup
cups           	0:off	1:off	2:on	3:on	4:on	5:on	6:off
