XO: Snap3 is a step backwards?

I haven't seen anyone else mention it.

--overlay-size-mb 512 --swap-size-mb 384 (from
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/TestPlans/Fedora10_On_XO) is too big
for the 4G SD. I used 384 and 256.

First time power up I think the kernel had an oops while booting.

Second time got as far as the login and clicked the Login button.
After 30 seconds of nothing happening I pressed Ctrl-Alt-F2 and
switched to text-mode getty on tty2 before the box wedged.

Third time got past the login (now with  the wrong DPI) and got as far
as the Appearances Preferences to try to reset the DPI, and also
started a terminal before the box wedged.

What do they say about doing the same thing over and over and
expecting different results?

Anyone have any better luck with Snap3?

I'm getting to the GNOME desktop, but getting occasional failures of
certain apps and panel applets to start. However, I'm running off a ext
HD with plenty of overlay and swap (8GB and 2GB).

Working okay on my XO, however I read from Ignacio that you may need to
use a smaller swap and overlap when writing the image to the SD card.

Yes, I too had to reduce them to 384 and 256 to get them to fit.
(That's what I said in my first email.)

I reimaged my SD with 320/256 (vs 384/256) and it's working much better now.

Actually for me Snap3 is a huge improvement for me.  Not getting any
oops messages any more and it's running much speedier.

snap3 is better for me also, its much faster, except the machine freezes
up entirely sometimes when im installing new software.

when the persistent layer is full this happen
there is no way I know to detects this

for example I put a usual livecd on a usual usb key with 300MB persistent layer
the free space is 4GB which is not true

So this makes me wonder ...

Why as part of the live cd creation process, don't we use resizee2fs to shrink
the image down to used space (2.1G) + overlay size?  We could then use the
extra space for /home and swap.  Right now mounting the NAND for /home is
horrible as it takes a very long time, so getting rid of that would be a huge
bonus (plus it would move all the Fedora bits to the SD card, which would be
better IMHO).
