Over the past year, a tremendous amount of development effort has
gone into the Valgrind 3 line. It now runs on x86 and amd64 quite
usably, and ppc32 (Linux) is looking promising.
...
Valgrind-3.0 is already stable and usable on x86 and amd64.
If you haven't already done so, please checkout and build it
(easy: see
http://www.valgrind.org/devel/cvs_svn.html), ...
I have been using the svn version 2 weeks ago on x86_64, it did
work, but the check wasn't as complete as on the i386 (it missed
a global variable pointer leak that was found by the same version
on i386) but this is a very important progress. I think providing
test version for x86_64 is likely to help them iron out the last
bugs and will help finding x86_64 specific bugs when working. Maybe
making it availble as a test update is the right thing to do at
this point.
