Salaam,
In alphabetical order those are the guys who used to work actively on the
translations work and discussions with the files I suggest:
Basem Narmok -> system-config-securitylevel
Desokey -> authconfig
Ghoneim -> system-config-securitylevel
Hicham -> system-config-packages
Maha -> help-screens-C
Sherif -> apacheconf
Turki -> libuser
karouri? we are still waiting for the bicon bug report or procedure to be
included in Fedora.
others missed?
Those files are around 200 strings only. Go fish!

linux4arabs already used such a logo so we need to distinguish ourselves a
little.

Thanks it's not an easy job I've just discovered. I found that I am always
doing two steps while designing.
Step #1: Design (on paper and PC)
Step #2: Look at it again and drag to trash ;)
For examples see below...
> Sherif.. You forgot to tell the size of logo.. don't tell me it's 80x80
> pixels it's too small..
This is exactly my problem, I realize this is a logo not a banner so may be
the best thing is just to type the name of the site in color like Fedora
logo ;) However, this is the last idea which I came with
Step #1: Design
* The text is the website name which help spread the word. I also intentionaly
added the .org to reflect that I used OOo Draw to design part of this logo.
* The colors used are blue, green, and orange to blend well with Fedora colors
and the website theme.
* The square blocks reflect our steps towards building a stable system. The
base is missing one block which will be put when we don't have arabic-related
bugs with the base tools such as Qt, GTK, ICU, ...
* I could change the size to whichever but the file size is still big so I may
need to use a vector program (sodipodi?) and export to SVG. I am sorry I
haven't time nowadays to play ;)
Step #2: Drag to trash
Already done ;)
Why?
A little cluttered and not very suitable for small sizes
Comments?

Actually, I am still waiting for my redhat account activation.
Yesterday, I sent another email to Sarah to enquire about that. It's
been two weeks now since my request was filed....
In the meantime, Munzir agreed to commit the changes on my behalf once
we reach a valid/stable state.

Our beloved qamoose
by Munzir Taha
Salam,
I am now checking some words to the Qamoose but want to point some issues:
1. I believe it's better to refrain from clear words that nobody confuse like
date, error,... (or is it confusable to some?)
2. Default is افتراضي with only one YEH.
3. Don't add الـ where it's not necessary like in Directory.
4. If the encoding of the page is unicode(utf-8) then translation for
Filesystem and home dir will not appear correctly (Which should mean that
those two are cp 1256 and the others are utf-8) Whereas, if the encoding of
the page is cp 1256 then all my translations doesn't show and all the others
show properly (which means that there is something wrong somewhere). To
interpret this is behind my knowledge, will you please explain.
Keep up the good work!

I remember this discussion goes towards running msgmerge with the
original .pot automatically as a pre_commit requirement or somthing similar.
Actually, I forgot this issue and now noticed again that:
Arabic has a total of 11407 words
English-GB has a total of 11373 words
Welsh has a total of 11403 words
...
If all the .pot files on one directory, I can go msgmerge them manually but
this would be a rather tedious process to make for each file.
A prerequirement to scripting this process would be to make the po files
consistent on their folders. The situation now is that you find some of the
po files in a folder called po (like autorun/po/ar.po) whereas others on the
same directory as the pot (like up2date/ar.po) and yet other files
distributed between both like (system-config-lvm/po/ar.po and
system-config-lvm/bg.po). Any reason for this?

My CVS problem resolved to ...!
by Munzir Taha
Hi sirs!
I was facing a strange problem in the past 3 days that denied my access to
Fedora server. It was so weird that I suspect something related to my
connection not Fedora repository. I mentioning it here for the record and for
others who may face such a problem in the future.
Description:
I can checkout out a file, update a file but not a whole folder or module!
[munzir@localhost translate]$ ssh -vvv i18n(a)redhat.com
OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: Applying options for *
debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0
debug1: Connecting to redhat.com [209.132.177.50] port 22.
debug1: connect to address 209.132.177.50 port 22: Connection timed out
ssh: connect to host redhat.com port 22: Connection timed out
Resolution:
#ifconfig ppp0 mtu 576
This is an mtu (maximum transmission unit) problem. It defines the maximum
size of a packet that can be transferred in one frame over a network. mtu is
hard coded to a default of 1500 in my Fedora Core 3 system which is suitable
for fast connections like DSL but not dialups.
Questions:
Now! is this a solvable bug? Where do I need to report it? Should ordinary
users know this weird setting?

Translation review of system-config-lvm
by Munzir Taha
This file has been translated by Mr. Turki. No doubt he made the job for me
very difficult to find mistakes or issues. The only noticable thing is the
trivial HAMZA's issue. Examples are:
حصل إستثناء
الإسم
إختر
إستخدام
all those shouldn't have HAMZA's. I noticed this problem is very common among
Arabic native speakers. I am not sure why but the rule is not difficult. Just
try to grab an Arabic grammar book and it won't be difficult. This issue is
not specific for Turki. One of the benefits of translation for us is to
improve our translations skills so let's not waste this chance. It's not only
for Fedora, it's also for ourselves!
