水本です。ここ数日、ステータスページの機能追加に伴い、賛否両論がfedora-trans-listで交わされています。これについて、メンテナーより補足説明がありましたのでこちらに転送致します。ディスカッションについての詳細はfedodra-trans-listのアーカイブをごらんください。 http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-trans-list/ ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー Hi all, ここ数日Fedora Translation Projectが開始して以来の活発なディスカッションが行われていると言えるでしょう。これほど多くの方々がディスカッションに参加し、意見を出し合うのは別の観点からするとすばらしいことです。このディスカッションで提起された点についていくつか説明したいと思います。 1. CVSアクセスについて CVSアカウントの取得手順が容易すぎるという意見があがりました。確かに、現在、有効なメールアドレスを持っている人は誰でもCVS アクセス権が与えられ、選択したロケールをコミットできるようになっています。これは、このプロジェクトの初期段階でプロジェクトへの参加とチーム形成を奨励したかったためです。参加者を知る、権限を与えるのに明確な方法はありません。どのような基準で特定の人にCVSへのアクセス権を与えたり拒否することができるのでしょうか。GNOMEまたはKDEのコーディネーターであれば、その人がFedoraのデフォルトのコーディネーターになるべきなのでしょうか。確実なフォーミュラはありません。提起がある毎に、オープンポリシーをとり、盲点をふさぎ、問題を解決していくことがコミュニティの参加を最大限に強化していくのだと私は思います(ところでCVSアカウントの権限は非常に制限されていますので、悪用されるなんて考えないで下さいね)。機能を追加し、アカウントに制限を加えるのは機能を削除/制限するより簡単です。今後の改良では、異なるCVSアカウントレベルを導入できるかもしれません。例えば、査読のアカウントは新規翻訳者のアカウントより多くの権限を持たせるなどです。 2. コーディネーターの役割コーディネーターの役割とはどのようにあるべきかを「コントロールする」のではなく、どのようになっているかを「管理していく」ことだと思います。あるプロジェクトに人々が参加すると自然とグループを形成します。小さいグループ(比較的コーディネートや採決が楽)もあれば、数百人に及ぶかなり規模の大きいグループ(まとめていく、ディスカッションで合意を得るのもかなりの作業となる)もあります。言語別のメーリングリストがまだない言語については、同じ言語の翻訳者同士見つけあってグループを形成していただきたいと思います。５、６人のグループになれば、コーディネーターを選出してその言語のメーリングリスト作成依頼をメールでおしらせください。 3. ツール vs. チームワークツールはチームワークの必要性を排除するものでは決してありません。新しいステータスページは協同作業を容易にするようデザインされています。小さいグループにとっては、作業中の翻訳についてメーリングリストで通知するのが非常に効果的かもしれませんが、数百人を有するグループにはメーリングリストによる通知で誰が何を作業しているのかを追跡するのは困難です。翻訳者が自分一人しかいないとわかっている場合には、 take/releaseの手順をとらなければならないのはわずらわしいことかもしれません。しかし、近い将来は状況が変わるかもしれません。誰か他の人がサインアップして翻訳者となり一助となりたがっているかもしれません。ツールでは取って代わることのできないものがたくさんあります。品質管理、語彙の整合性などです。ただし、ツール(または開発、改良していきたいと思っているツール)はこうした活動の役に立つ可能性があります。ステータスページや将来的な改良は決してチームワークの代用にはなりません。 4. Red Hat people Fedora project は Red Hat がスポンサーするオープンソースプロジェクトです。自然と "redhat.com" のメールアドレスを持つ人が多く参加しています。これは、 anyone(a)redhat.com と言う人が発言したことはオフィシャルであるという意味ではありません。ここにいるみなさんと同様に、彼らも参加者/コントリビューターなのです。 Fedoraはコミュニティプロジェクトであり、プロジェクトに参加する人はすべてコミュニティに敬意を表するべきであり、Red Hat peopleも例外ではありません。最後にもう少しだけ、ヒートアップしたディスカッションで冷静を保ち続けるのはかなり難しいことはわかりますが、このメーリングリストに投稿する際は、全員が意見を出す権利があり、異なるアプローチかもしれませんが全員が同じゴールを目指していることを心にとめておいて下さい。建設的な提案、討論、批判のすべてをお待ちしています。 Sarah ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー -----転送済みのメッセージ----- From: Sarah Wang <sarahs(a)redhat.com> To: Fedora Translation Project List <fedora-trans-list(a)redhat.com> Subject: Recent discussions Date: Fri, 25 Jun 2004 15:04:53 +1000 Hi all, I have to say that the past two or three days is the most exciting period of this mailing list since Fedora Translation Project started :) It's great to have so many people join the discussion and give their opinions from different perspectives. I'd like to explain a few things raised among the discussions. 1. About CVS access. Someone mentioned that it was too easy to get a CVS account. True. Currently anyone who has a valid email address can be granted CVS access to the commit locale of his/her choice. It was because in the early phase of the project we'd like to encourage people to participate and to start forming teams. There is no way to know or qualify people - on what basis should we give someone access to cvs while denying others? If the person is a GNOME or KDE coordinator then he/she should be the default coordinator for Fedora? There is no convincing formula. I believe by adopting an open policy then close the loopholes and fixing problems as they arise will maximise the community participation. (BTW, your cvs account has very limited rights, so don't even think of misuse it ;) ). It is easier to add features and put limitations on accounts than to remove features/restrictions. In the future process development, we may be able to have different level of cvs accounts. For example, a proofreader's account may have more rights than a new translator's account. 2. Coordinator's role I believe a coordinator's role is not *to control* how things should be but to stay *in control* of how things are. People participate one project naturally form groups. Some are small - relatively easy to coordinate and come to a resolution. Some groups are quite large with hundreds of members - it's quite a task to keep things organised and come to a consensus on discussions. For any languages that don't have a separate mailing list yet, I'd like to see the translators of the same language discover each other and form a group. If there are five or more people in the group, just elect your own coordinator and send me an email to request a separate mailing list. 3. Tools vs. Teamwork Tools will never eliminate the need of teamwork. The new status page is designed to ease the work involved in coordination. For smaller groups, it may be very effective to notify through mailing list about the work he/she is undertaking, but for groups with hundreds of members it's hard to track who is doing what through mailing list notification. It may seem cumbersome to have to go through take/release when you know you are the only translator out there :) but it may not be the case tomorrow, someone else may signed up to be a translator and want to help out. There are lots of things tools cannot replace teamwork, such as quality control, vocabulary consistency etc, but tools (or we hope to develop/modify tools) could help with those activities. The status page or any future enhancement is by no means a replacement for teamwork. 4. Red Hat people Fedora project is Red Hat sponsored open source project, naturally you will see plenty of people with "redhat.com" email address. That doesn't mean anything said by anyone(a)redhat.com is official. Like everyone here, he/she is also a participant/contributor. Fedora is a community project and anyone participate the project should respect the community, Red Hat people is no exception. Last but not the least, I know it's pretty hard to stay cool in a heated discussion but please keep in mind when you post to this mailing list that everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and we may have different approaches but we all have the same goal. ポジショニングパラメータ

ども、重松です。 anaconda を翻訳していて思ったのですが、ポジショニングパラメータって機能するんでしたっけ？ msgid "Please insert %s disc %d to continue." msgstr "続行するには %s をディスク %d に挿入して下さい。" こういうのがあるんですけど、 msgid "Please insert %s disc %d to continue." msgstr "続行するにはディスク %2$d を %1$s に挿入して下さい。" と書く方が自然かなぁと。これはそんなに気にするレベルのものではありませんが。(笑) どなたかご存知でしたら、教えてください。

水本です。上記の件名で以下のようなメッセージがfedora-trans-listに送られています。パッケージ翻訳ステータスページに関するメッセージです。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー Hi All, 特定のモジュールが48時間以上保持されたままになっていますというような内容のメールを受け取る方がいるかもしれません。なかには、これに該当しない方にも送られる可能性がありますが、この場合は無視して下さい。モジュールがtakeされた時間を追跡しております。特定のモジュールを長期に保持されている方は、メールの内容をお読み下さい。メカニズムを追加しましたので、特定期間を過ぎてモジュールが保持されている場合、 commitせずにその翻訳者をリリースできるようになります。はじめて作動させるため、最後にcommitされた時間はそのモジュールがtakeされた時としています。いまのところは誰もリリースする予定はありません。さて、特定期間はどのくらいが適当であるかディスカッションしたいと思います。すでに、通常開発期間中は24時間から１週間、リリースサイクル末期には２時間から 1日といった提案をいくつか頂いています。御意見をおきかせください。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー --転送済みのメッセージ-- From: Bernd Groh <bgroh(a)redhat.com> To: Fedora Translation Project List <fedora-trans-list(a)redhat.com> Subject: module/lang released Date: Fri, 25 Jun 2004 11:45:21 +1000 Hi All, some of you may receive emails stating that you had a certain module in excess of 48 hours, even though you didn't. If that's the case, simply ignore the email. We only now started tracking when somebody is taking a module. If you had it for a long period, please consider what's stated in the email though. We simply added a mechanism that allows us to release translators if they held a module for a certain period of time, without having done a commit. For the first run, I simply assumed the time of last commit as the time the module was taken, of course, I am not going to release anyone just now. :) But I will put it to discussion of what a good time period is? We already had some suggestions ranging from 24 hours to 1 week in normal development and 2 hours to 1 days towards the end of a release cycle. anaconda の SELinux 翻訳ミスとファイアウォール用語の統一

ども、重松です。 anaconda で、boot: linux selinux と入力すると、ファイアウォール設定のところで、SELinux の設定が出てきますが、ここの Disabled が、ファイルウォールを無効にするとなっています。取り急ぎ、SELinux を無効にするに変更して、コミットしておきました。でも、anaconda だしなぁ。lol anaconda を翻訳される方は、意味のないファイルを編集する可能性もあるので、これを読んでおいたほうがいいと思います。 https://listman.redhat.com/archives/fedora-trans-list/2004-May/msg00031.html 後、ファイアウォールとファイヤーウォールと 2 通り訳があったので、 anaconda では、ファイアウォールに統一しておきました。参考までに google で検索をかけてみると、検索結果数は、以下の通りでした。ファイアウォール 187,000 ファイアーウォール 50,400 ファイヤウォール 8,080 ファイヤーウォール 29,100 ちなみに、残りでファイヤーウォールとなっている箇所は以下の通りです。 $ grep 'ファイヤ' translate/ -r ぢょ〜@よくきたなです． Fedora Core 2 開発の後期に一部修正をやっちゃってますが，現在の ja.po で下記の点が非常に気になります．・無駄な空白 ex)インターネット接続を行います(架空のメッセージですけど) ・全角の「:」・語尾の「ー」を付ける vs 付けない． ex)サーバー vs サーバ Fedora JP ではおおよそ「ー」はつける方向でいこうかとなっています． ex)http://fedora.jp/wiki/?Working%2FTrans%2F03.ExampleNotation #Fedora JP でまとめただけなので，Fedora Project に「明確な判断基準」があるならそれに沿うべきだとは思いますが．・文章の末尾の「。」があるものとないものがある．用途によりますけど，同列の用途(例えば成功or失敗メッセージ)でついている・ついていないがばらばら． ex)成功しました失敗しました。 GUI の操作アイテム中のメッセージでなければ「。」をつける方向で行きたいのですが．逆に今 firstboot なのかな? 初期起動の時の GUI でライセンス承諾のラジオボタンのメッセージに「。」がついてたりするのは変だと思います．・翻訳時にショートカットキーがなくなってる ex)_Open => 開く (「開く(_O)」になってほしい) ・ショートカットキーのキャピタルで英小文字がある ex)_domain => ドメイン(_d) 見た目的に格好悪い気がします．上記ですと「日本語的にキャピタルは全然意味がないので，「ドメイン(_D)」となってほしい．とりあえず覚えてることです．ご意見他いただければと思います． -- ----.----1----.----2----.----3----.----4----.----5----.----6----.----7 Tadashi Jokagi/Shibuya city mailto:elf@elf.no-ip.org YokukitanaII http://elf.no-ip.org/ Yokukitawiki http://elf.no-ip.org/wiki/ Yokukitablog http://elf.no-ip.org/blog/

LC2004 翻訳者/翻訳プロジェクトBOFのお知らせ

レッドハットの中井と申します。 Linux Conference 2004でオープンソース翻訳者/翻訳プロジェクトBOFの開催を予定しています。現在日本には翻訳プロジェクトは多くあり、おたがいの活動を知ることでもっとよりよい翻訳成果を出すことができるのではないかと考えています。 LC2004: http://lc.linux.or.jp/lc2004/ 今のところの予定時間枠は、6/3 10:00〜12:00です。主な議題: ・国名/言語名/通貨名などの翻訳はどこをupstreamとするべきか・翻訳プロジェクト間の連絡はどのようにするべきか・翻訳者を増やすにはどうしたらよいか・このような翻訳者BOFは今後も必要か・日本語メッセージ翻訳の glossary の共通化日本語メッセージ翻訳もインタフェースの一部と考えるならばコマンドライン、GUI メッセージのある程度の共通化は必要でないか？・日本語翻訳関連の情報の集約化各プロジェクト間、翻訳募集告知、リンクなどを一つのサイトにまとめてはどうか？事前に以下の質問に回答しておいていただけると、当日の配布資料に記載します。参考としてGNOMEユーザ会の例を挙げておきます。・プロジェクト名称(日本GNOMEユーザ会) ・URL (http://www.gnome.gr.jp/) ・翻訳対称 (ja.po, ヘルプファイル(sgml), ニュースサイト) ・翻訳プロジェクトリーダー (相花毅 aihana(a)gnome.gr.jp ) ・参加したい場合の連絡先 (gnome-translation(a)gnome.gr.xn--jpsubscribe-jt4j) ・ちょっとした誤訳の指摘をするときの連絡先 (translation(a)gnome.gr.xn--jp-r93asctdr58z.xn--po-1b4an34v9ixarod9bv17i) ・問題点 (まだ多くの未訳が残っていること) なお、このメールは転送してもらって構いません。よろしくお願いします。 -- レッドハット株式会社中井幸博
