Just a early reminder on the FC3 translation freeze date: 22nd Sept
The full schedule is available at:
http://fedora.redhat.com/participate/schedule/
Tomorrow (1st Sept) is the string/UI freeze date, which means we
shouldn't expect any more string changes in the pot files. Now is the
time we should put in more effort into the translation and proofreading
if you want them included in FC3.
Cheers,
Sarah

Warren,
We have had great responce from ja community (fedora-trans-ja,
fedora-ja-list).
There are so many opinions and useful info coming in.
I am not able to translate them all each by each, so you can communicate
them on the above lists if you have more to know.
Here is very brief summary.
1 is most people recommended, and so on.
1) Zenkaku/Hankaku key only
2) Alt + ~ (either, Alt + Zenkaku/Hankaku)
3) right Alt key only
4) Shift + Space
* Inconvinient when using alphabet
* Already assigned to excel/opencalc
5) Ctrl + Space
* Inconvinient when using Emacs
6) Ctrl + \ (backslash)
7) various hotkeys corresponding to each langs
* ctrl+enter has already assigned to excel
Cheers,
Noriko

Done.
I'll send out a reminder after 24 hours, and release after 48. And
remember, the maintainer of a module can release anyone from this module
at any time.
Cheers,

Hi all,
Since we are fast approaching translation freezing date, I propose to
have a shorter time frame for anyone to work on a file before it's
automatically released. Say 48 hours?

Here is what I propose to include in the translation guide:
o setting up translation environment - locale, getting files etc
o translation/proofreading processes - status page etc
o software translation - gettext, po format and editing tools
o documentation translation - xml, xml2po and compiling procedure
o cvs (this part is almost done)
Feel free to add any other topic, or even better write about any topic
you are familiar with. Plain text file is fine. I'll integrate the
content together in xml and put on the project website when finished.

日本語入力切替えについてのアンケート
by Noriko Mizumoto
Warrenさんより、「Windows IME ユーザーでも簡単に使えるようなホットキー」
について広く意見を聞きたいという要望が入っています。
次のような候補があがっていますがどれが使いやすいと思われるか教えて頂けな
いでしょうか。
1. Shift + Space
2. Ctrl + Space
3. Alt

As noted on:
http://fedora.redhat.com/participate/schedule/
Yesterday was the string freeze. We hope that we can keep to it
as best as possible, *however*, there's going to be one exception
that I know of.
As anyone who has looked at it knows, specspo is rather out of date;
rather than do the usual piecemeal incomplete updates, we're looking
at ways to reorganize the process so it actually works.
This means that either:
a) specspo won't change at all, and we might dump it for FC3
b) specspo will change, possibly significantly, at a later date
I know this is *not* a good solution for i18n/l10n, but I figured any
heads up is better than none.

Re: Translation guide
by Noriko Mizumoto
Hi all translators,
Among Japanese team, the consistency of "Language Team" in the header
has been pointed. Because for ja files, some file has default (eg,
Japanese <kdeveloper(a)kde.gr.jp>), other file has i18n-list(a)redhat.com
etc. I think this is great idea to have its consistency rather than
leaving default.
For example, All translation teams have same one such as
i18n-list(a)redhat.com, Each translation team decide what they should
have, etc.
Could you mind to tell us, ja-team your lang-teams idea?
Also I'd like to suggest that this also can be included in our
Translation Guide.
"Project-Id-Version: ja\n"
"Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: \n"
"POT-Creation-Date: 2004-08-25 16:29+1000\n"
"PO-Revision-Date: 2004-08-27 17:23+0900\n"
"Last-Translator: Tadashi Jokagi <fedora(a)elf.no-ip.org>\n"
"Language-Team: Japanese <i18n-list(a)redhat.com>\n"
"MIME-Version: 1.0\n"
"Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\n"
"Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n"
"X-Generator: KBabel 1.0.2\n"
Thanks.
