To package maintainers
by Sarah Wang
Hi,
It's only a couple of days left before the translation freeze date (9th
of April). All the community translation contributors have been working
hard towards 100% completion rate. We will need all package maintainers'
support on making sure we are translating the latest POT files and our
completed translation will be packaged in the final build.
I have been keeping an eye on the po files but I can't be sure if pot
files are the lastest. It would be such a shame to miss the cut not
because we are unable to do it but because we are unaware of the changes.
Thanks!

Heads-up for anaconda translations
by Jeremy Katz
I just refreshed the anaconda translations on rhlinux.redhat.com. This
added ~ 3 strings for the new languages which are now "supported" and
also seems to have fuzzied 2 or 3 (one appears to be a new language, the
other appears to be tweaked SELinux wording)
I'll try to pull in any translation changes through Friday to give as
much of a chance as possible to get these few translations in for
testing with test3.
Also, as of now, the language list for installation in FC2 should be
considered frozen. The following languages are included:
Bengali
Catalan
Chinese(Simplified)
Chinese(Traditional)
Croatian
Czech
Danish
Dutch
English
Estonian
Farsi
Finnish
French
German
Hungarian
Icelandic
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Malay
Norwegian
Portuguese(Brazilian)
Portuguese
Russian
Slovenian
Spanish
Swedish
Turkish
Ukrainian
Welsh
Zulu
The following languages seem to have sufficient translations (or are
very close) but are not included due to the lack of a suitable font in
Fedora Core. If you know of a font for one of these languages that is
under a suitable license for distribution with Fedora Core, it would be
good to work on getting that into FC3 (it's never to early for the bug
report asking for it filed against distribution :)
Hindi
Punjabi
Tamil
Vietnamese

{redhat,system}-config-packages translation
by Jeremy Katz
Since this has now come up a few times, the branch of
system-config-packages being shipped is still the
redhat-config-packages-1_1_x branch in CVS. So for translations to be
added, they need to be done on this branch.
Cheers,
Jeremy

'punching nameserver'
by Josep Puigdemont
Hi,
from the initscripts module, there's a hard to translate string (for
me):
#: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-post:83
msgid "punching nameserver $nameserver through the firewall"
msgstr ""
The problem is the meaning of "punch (to)" in this sentence, any hints?
I checked other translations but they differ a bit. The Swedish one
translates it something like "let it pass through" (släpper igenom), and
the french one by "Inserting" (Insertion). Curiously the Italian
translation uses the same verb (punching) in English.
Thanks!

Persian translation upcoming | Re: Fedora's Arabic translation started !
by Darioush Jalali
Hi All,
I am new to this place. I want to start the Persian translation of Fedora. Because of the similarities of Persian and Arabic alphabet / fonts / unicode / blah / blah... i wanted to see if you (Rahal) could provide me on _how_ you started this thing (i.e fonts, right to left problems. etc..) Any ideas?
Thanks && Best Regards,
Darioush Jalali

Hi all,
It's a great pleasure to officially announce that we (Arabeyes.org) have
started Fedora's translation to Arabic:
http://www.arabeyes.org/project.php?proj=Fedora
I have imported the POs/POTs to Arabeyes CVS:
http://cvs.arabeyes.org/viewcvs/translate/fedora
I'll be the translation coordinator for the time being (doing weekly syncs on
Sundays between Arabeyes and Fedora's CVS) and I hope that lots of people
will join to translate :-)
So, anyone interested to help ?
Regards,

Translation deadline -- questions
by Josep Puigdemont
As I've seen at the schedule:
http://fedora.redhat.com/participate/schedule/
that the translation deadline is 9th April. Then the 19th April is the
translation build freeze.
What's the difference between them? Is that no translations done _after_
the 9th of April will be included in FC 2 final release?
Will the translation build freeze assure that _all_ translations done
(to that date) are included in FC 2? Or the translators still have to
bug the maintainers so they will include them?
For the Red Hat guys and girls:
I reported a bug (19525) because my language is not included in anaconda
installer. I'm affraid that since I labeled it as "enhancement" it might
not be considered for being "solved" before FC 2 final release. What's
your opinion here?
Thanks!
