Name for our domain
by Dimitris Glezos
The Infra group is in the process of deploying our website on non-testing Fedora
servers and they are asking us about our domain name. So we have two choices:
1. l10n.fedoraproject.org
2. translate.fedoraproject.org
The first one is more precise, because we are not only doing translations but
work on the whole spectrum of making Fedora more reachable in local communities.
Also, it is in line with GNOME, KDE, and other projects.
The problem with it is that people don't know what L10n is (let alone that some
read it as 110). Even experienced programmers don't know its difference with
i18n (last week I answered at least 4 such questions). The difference is neither
important nor precisely distinguishable, especially in Fedora. Most people I've
talked with agree to use 2 and keep the technical details on our wiki pages.
So, if there are no objections, I'll give Infra the green light. :)

New FLP web page, translation statistics
by Dimitris Glezos
Hey all.
In the past few days I've been playing around with an implementation for a web
home for the FLP, `l10n.fedoraproject.org`. Here's a live prototype:
http://publictest4.fedora.redhat.com/
Do you like it? Does it work for you? Do you absolutely hate it and want to DDoS
the server? Any thoughts, fire away. :-)
Hopefully, when the development moves from i18n.redhat.com to cvs.fpo we'll have
a system for translations up and running. Some known "bugs":
* Information registered on the system is not yet complete. We'll need a
collaborative effort on this. All the teams on /teams with a (!) have
*no maintainer* registered; please put up your details at /wiki/L10N/Teams.
* Modules from the Fedora Documentation don't work yet. I've imported gthumb
and release-notes from GNOME so that the Docs statistics show up for now.
* TODO: Put up a cron job to update the data regularly. Fix POT file access.
Implment proper sorting (incremental for example) of releases, etc. Internet
Explorer has (as usual) some bugs but who cares? (needs fixing anyway).
* Currently there is no support for authentication, so you can't "Apply" for a
module to receive updates for it. Very soon it'll be on CVS so someone could
write a patch for this. :-)

Macedonian
by Arangel Angov
Hi list,
I will be coordinating the effort for finishing the macedonian
translation of Fedora. I'm not new here, I've contributed some
translations some years ago but I'm still sending this message since it
was the last step in the wiki. I'm also working on the macedonian
translations for GNOME and have some experience with localization.
Cheers,

L10n commits
by Dimitris Glezos
For those who'd like to monitor the commits to our repository (`/cvs/l10n/`),
and in the future, for commits to all PO/POT files, we've created a group that
receives such notifications. All emails sent to `l10n-commits-members` go to all
the members of that group. To subscribe, go to
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts/userbox.cgi?_edit=1
and add yourself to the 'l10n-commits' group. Because of a limitation of the
account system, the request will require an approval, but we'll do that right away.
I've added this, together with various other tools, to our Tools page:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Tools
