I've been recently working on making GNOME Shell
(http://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell) available as an optional component
for F12 so people can try it and see what's coming in GNOME 3.
Part of this is having a way to switch your GNOME desktop to use GNOME
Shell. I did this by adapting the desktop-effects tool that was
previously part of the compiz-gnome package:
(desktop-effects is "upstream Fedora" and hosted on fedorahosted.org.)
It was pointed out to me, however, that we're a few weeks past the
Changing the desktop-effects user interface does involve some new
strings, and these strings will be seen even if you are just using the
existing functionality of switching between Metacity and Compiz.
I've extracted the new strings and listed them below. There are no
changes to existing strings.
I think it is pretty neat to have GNOME Shell available to be installed
on F12. I think it's much nicer to have a single user interface for this
- The old desktop effects user interface
- A "switch to GNOME Shell" user interface
That interact in complex ways that are hard to debug. So, hopefully this
can be green-lighted from the translation side :-)

contributing Welsh translations to mainly GNOME and KDE since I started
using Gnu/Linux ~5 years ago. I'm now a committer for the GNOME Welsh

with other people.

Hello dear translators,
You may have heard my noise about this project in the past couple
weeks. Everything is set up now (thanks to Dimitris, Asgeir and Piotr)
in transifex and 22 short strings are waiting for translation.
Even before I made this announcement, Spanish and Polish translations
were finished thanks to Piotr and Domingo. You guys are lightning
fast! I appreciate it.
This project is an F-12 feature so it would be very nice if we could
get as much translation as we can, before the string freeze deadline.
It should take a translator no more than 10-15 minutes to complete.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Felix has just informed me that there is a huge change in the
translation status of the module system-config-printer from previous
release (Fedora 11). I have checked out the last submitted translations
for Gujarati for Fedora 11 from the git repository and merged it with
the latest translation file, the translation status increased from 28%
currently to 90%.
The merge that is supposed to happen properly might have broken at some
level, not sure where. So, I would like to advise other language
translators also to follow the manual merge steps, which can save at
least 5-6 hours of work for them.
On the smolt smoon, there are three unclear sentences:
I've checked many po files (languages) of the smolt smoon, and all of them
uses "Myth" itself.
They treat it as a proper noun. Or, no translators understand the meaning of "Myth".
Does anybody know the actual meaning of these sentences?
