About myself: I using Fedora for many time, learning about web- and
database servers on Linux, also I study C++ programming.
Project Fedora and I: I had a little contribution in release-notes for
14 version. Now I want to work with russian documentation, translate

I too, an it-IT translator involved during the past f13 translation
cycle, get an agreeable experience with Transifex (till august 2010):
1. also online translations
2. straightforward upload/download
3. exact % reporting
All was more than OK!
I hope that it could be possible in the near future to restore that fine
environment

Transifex quite unusable

Dear all,
I'm contributing some German translations since a few days. Here is some
feedback:
In this short period I have detected some problems with Transifex:
1. It is extremely slow (more or less unusably slow)
2. It is more comfortable to use git to check out the latest po files
3. Uploading a corrected/enhanced file is extremely slow or not possible
4. Translators are unable to leave a commit message such as "Corrected
some mistakes" or "Translated some missing strings".
5. Mistakenly overwriting a wrong po file is easily done by pointing the
mouse a few pixels above or underneath the entry and click "browse".
How about establishing a git repository for the translators? Maybe just
as an alternative? It would make life easier for translators.
I do not know if Transifex had a better performance in the past, at
present it is just horrible, nearly unusable.

We cannot create a mailing with *none* as a moderator. Can this be you
(given the fact that you understand the language and are involved in
l10n project) at least for the period of forming a local team to take
it over :)
