Hi Guys, Why we mantain the transifex translate in our transifex[1], if it have yourself upstream project? Should we remove this project from our infra? Thanks! Transifex big issues

Hi, I've been trying for around 2 hours this evening to submit a translation in transifex with no success at all. Pages are too slow (it takes up to two minutes for a page to load), imports take the committer to get multiple errors and no results are produced since the .po file don't get imported in the end. I've then moved my problem to the docs channel and found out that i could upload my translation through git. I would therefore suggest some of the translators or main committers to adopt a git account and do stuff manually until transifex becomes less broken. Are you guys experiencing this problem as well? if yes, please adopt my suggestion: it will make everyone's life easier! Thanks in advance, Andrea Fedora Italian Translation Team

Transifex migration

Hello all, Yes, I'm not dead (yet). Just being a bit away. :) Well... Finally, thanks to the hard work of Domingos Becker, we've got Transifex 0.9.1 packaged and an instance of it running at https://translate.stg.fedoraproject.org/ with some data from the production instance. Yeahh!! Submissions are not working, but you already can see what's different from 0.7.x. Now we enter the last phase of the process, I believe. I would like to encourage everyone willing to give feedback here to have a look on what's been implemented in 0.8.x[1] and 0.9.x[2] versions, so you can understand some aspects that will have to change from our current experience with Transifex 0.7.x. The main major changes are: * No more Collections. Now you can have releases in projects. * Project Teams support. I will not explain how things are working now. I'm assuming you know enough here. :) So my suggestion for the new structure based on Transifex 0.9.x is the following: Create a main project called 'Fedora' and create all the necessary team in it. Outsource the access control of all the other projects (anaconda, system-config-*, docs-*, etc..) to the main 'Fedora' project. This way the other projects will be using the teams of the main project as a unique and centralized place. The association of people with the correct team can be done manually. Everyone of us can request access to a 'Fedora' project team related to its language. The releases are going to be mounted under the main 'Fedora' project. You can have a idea on how things will work looking at the XFCE[3] instance that even have some customizations on the templates. That's the easiest way I could thought to manage the new workflow without much pain, if any. Thoughts? An event than could interest all of us, related to translation *and* free/open-source it's coming up and it would be hosted by the prestigious Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. http://www.uoc.edu/freerbmt11/ The introduction of the site: This workshop aims to bring together the experience of researchers and developers in the field of rule-based machine translation who have decided to get on board the free/open-source train and are *effectively contributing to creating a commons of explicit knowledge*: machine translation rules and dictionaries, and machine translation systems whose behaviour is transparent and clearly traceable through their explicit logic. (I've added the *bold*) This is an area of real interest to me, there are pretty good translation memories we can access today *because people is sharing*. You can read all about this here: http://www.tausdata.org/blog/2010/08/everyones-sharing-translations/ My own discussion about why this is worth of your attention: There is no doubt than machine automated translation is helping in the work of every translator at Fedora/FOSS at a large. But we shouldn't take for sure "Google is going better and better and i don't need to do anything after copypasting my strings for translation on it" as someone as said in the past. By the way, i'm in the way of starting a project for sharing among Fedora/FOSS translators translation memories in a common repository (by language), and i'd like to know your experience about this: Which is the best way to share your translation memories on a repo we can fit to our needs? I've thought about putting all together in a git repo (by language pairs), where everybody can push his updates to the memories, and pull the contributed by their peers, loading it into their preferred translation software. But i think is easier to say it than doing it? Or not? Which is the way do you reuse your own translation memories? How do you share with your fellows at your Fedora translation team? Typos in documentation review process

Hi. Some time ago I have filed the following bug report against Fedora documentation https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=649812 Any other bug reports about typos were fixed by Fedora developers with the amazing speed (many thanks for the developers for their good job). But the above mentioned bug report is in frozen state for some reason. Did I miss something? Have I done it in a wrong way? Any hints will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Yuri

Guillermo Gómez has a lot of experience as sysadmin, Ambassador and documentation writer. I'm sure you'll find worth of your contribution this guide. L10n and i18n test days

Hello L10n folks! In a joint effort by QA, i18n and l10n teams we will be hosting test days [1] regarding i18n/l10n installation, i18n and l10n desktop tests for our next release. It is highly important that translation team leaders and contributors join this efforts in order to make Fedora 15 a high quality release around the world.
